Aw, I can't believe I missed Round 1.
I would have jumped on that translated Dracula X for sure.
Dracula X Chronicles on PSP is okay, but it would be nice to have something closer to the original.
I'm sure I could fumble my way through the Japanese one, but English is just so convenient. lol

Glad to see you guys are enjoying it.
It's very encouraging. :)
I've been learning a lot about fonts and how to properly edit them.
The next step will probably be fixing the accented characters, but beyond that, are there any missing characters that you guys might find "essential"?
For example, I don't have the symbols for Copyright or Registered Trademark yet, and those are on the "to do" list.
I just haven't decided how to do them.
Full-size character, superscript character, or centered character...
Circle, or rounded rectangle...
Whatever looks best thematically, I suppose.

Also, if you guys notice any errors, like characters clipping into each other, or having huge spaces around them, or something inaccurate compared to official text...
Any "bugs", let me know!

Cheers!

Hey guys!
That's right! I'm still alive! And it's update time!

Turbo Legacy Version 0.1:
I'd call this version around 70% complete, and 90% accurate; a vast improvement to the previous version.
+ Capital letters were adjusted to be slightly shorter.
+ All characters were adjusted for accuracy.
+ Many characters were added or replaced, such as currency symbols.[/color]
- Accented characters are currently improperly spaced.
- Accents themselves are off-center and commonly touching the tops of characters.

I've already updated the first post as well.
Enjoy!

Aww, I didn't see it crossed off in the main post.
Well, I did it anyway, so here's a collage! :D

@esteban: Of course I'll be back!
I've wanted this font for years, and now I'm able to make it, so giving up is not an option!

@Clash: Alberta. :) Edmonton for the last 8 years or so, but I'm originally from Hinton.

If Hinton doesn't ring any bells, most people know it as the smelly pulp mill town that they stop in for gas on their way to Jasper. lol
When you're living there, you don't really notice the smell as much (depending on wind direction), and it has a beautiful view of the Rockies.

It used to be a little town in the sticks, and all we were really known for was our food.
L&W is one of the best family restaurants around (poutine with steak-cut fries? yes, please!), and nobody beats Gus's as far as pizza is concerned.

In the last decade or so, they've been expanding here and there and have even put up some "history installations".
Like, you know how at a nature park, there are signs telling you about the plants and the wildlife?
Kind of like that, only about the town's history. Also bears and mountain lions. lol
So now it's a moderate-sized town in the sticks. :P

They've also been trying to make the town more fun by adding a pretty okay skate park, and one of the biggest bike parks in the country.
You can check out some videos of each by clicking those links.
From the skate park, you can see the aforementioned pulp mill, as well as the rec centre and library.

As for Edmonton, there's not much to say. It's Edmonton.
We have a couple okay sports teams, lots of libraries, and a murder rate that rivals New York City.

Anyway, I guess that's all a little off-topic, but considering that this thread doubles as my introduction to the forums, now you guys know a little about me (or where I'm from at least)! :)

Alright guys, I'm a little late...
I said I'd release a version of the font in its current state at the end of June, and now it's a week into July.
I'd like to say I got caught up with something, but I was totally just being lazy over the long weekend (Canada Day).
So here it is:

Remember, this is a work-in-progress; the fully-refined font is still coming, but not for a while.
I've spent so much time in the editor that I'm dizzy and probably cross-eyed. lol
So having said that, I'm gonna take a break from working on the font.
I'll pick it up again in probably a week or two (not that I imagine anyone is terribly anxious about it).

Anyway, enjoy what I've finished so far -- maybe make something cool with it. :p
Cheers!

Duuuuuuuude, these are amazing!
Is that your personal collection?
There are some great games in there.
Anyway, thanks a bunch! These will be a great help!

Whoa there, Phase!
Thanks for the links!
They'll help me make adjustments until I can get some scans together.

I'm hoping to find some games at some used game stores here in Edmonton, preferably with cases intact, but I won't hold my breath.
If any of you guys out there can also have a look around, I'd really appreciate it.
Assuming I find something, I'm going to ask the staff if I can just take some photographs for historic documentation or some such.
I'll even pay them for their time.
Failing that, I'll likely dump some cash on a game with a long title - hopefully something good.

I'm at work now, but when I get home, I'll make a comparison image between the first sample and my latest version so you guys have some progress to look at.

Comparison!

Thanks again for the support, everyone! :)

Thanks for the warm welcomes and support, folks! :D
Any scans (or straight, low-glare photos) are appreciated.
I would scan my own games, but they're sadly few, and 4 hours away at my grandmother's place.
TG16 was her first love in terms of gaming - she's probably playing Bomberman '93 as we speak.

As far as using the font for something on the site here, I don't think it would be suitable for the entire site (because readability), but buttons and stuff might be cool. :)
And Sarumaru, I certainly hope you have a great many uses for this font.
I'd be pleasantly surprised if this one got half as much use as my Super Mario Maker fonts.

Just on a side note, I'm hoping to complete this by the end of June.
Failing that, I'll release the font in whatever state it's in, and continue working through July.
At the time of this writing, I'd call it "a sloppy forgery" - it's pretty close, but noticeably different.
The letter forms are coming along nicely, but the spacing is probably a bit off.

Thanks for the support, everyone!
And thanks for the link, esteban!
I found a few manuals that use the font on them, but it occurred to me that I also need to find images from many other games.

IMG

As you can see here, Neutopia (one of my favorite games, btw) uses the font on the card, but not on the case (or the manual).
The same can be said for Bonk's Adventure, Final Lap Twin, and probably many more.
I know the orange spines on some games cases use the font, too.
Space Harrier for example, has custom art on the front of the case, as well as the card, but the spine uses the font that I'm looking for (which I will now refer to as the 'Orange Label' font).

So does anyone know a place with good scans of either the cards or the orange label spines?
Plan B is to continue Googling the names of every game and hoping for useable results.

What's up people? New guy here.
So for a really long time I've wanted the font used for the TG16 logo, as well as various games.
You know the one:IMG
I never found a perfect match, but I did find Mekanik.
I'm using it as a base, and am modifying it to more closely resemble the target font.
As you can see, progress is coming along:

TG16-demo.png
IMG
(click for full size)

Now obviously it's not perfect yet.
For example, I've found that zero shouldn't have a slash, my W is fat, and my 'lowercase' J is extended too high.
I do aim to perfect it eventually, though!
All I need are straight, high-quality scans of any cases, cards, manuals, or magazines that use this font.
So can anyone point me in the right direction?
Maybe you know of a good archive?
Maybe you can scan some of your collection?
Every little bit helps!

I hope you like what you see so far, and I can't wait to see this project completed.

UPDATE: There are now two versions of the font!

IMG

Version 0.0:
This is the first version I released; about 60% complete, with 70% accuracy.
Accurate enough for most applications, but ultimately flawed.

I'd call this version around 70% complete, and 90% accurate; a vast improvement to the previous version.
