a update to the above i've figured out what the markings are, but i'm still none the wiser to what exactly this is....has nobody got the service manual / diagrams for the drive....

the markings are BR (underscored) with a small N in the corner.

Hi all, i've just had a board come in missing a load of components, i've been able to identify all but one by  checking another board, but this last one i can't make out...

it's TR 305 a small outline transistor package but i can't make out the value.

any help would be appreciated greatly.

An RGB modded system is definitely the way to go, £100 should get you a complete set up in the UK and i have been selling full set ups for £90 -100 for the last few years. recently the price has creeped up a bit mainly due to the exchange rate getting worse. I don't have any console systems on their own at the moment - just full ifu briefcase systems....as i'm going on holiday just after Christmas which is proving to be very costly.

from about march i should be back to normal selling rgb modded systems on a monthly basis.

replacements are impossible to find as no one else seems to have ever used such a small retaining clip, however what i use is a c-ring - i think that's what they're called and they can be found in sizes below 2mm id. They're still a little big but careful squeezing with pliers you can close the gap down to around the 1.5mm required.

and finally check that the pots are correct, virtually every cd rom 2 i've had that has been opened before has had the pots messed with.

no that's not what I'm after, those instructions are basically random testing.

There is supposedly exact measurements you can get using frequency readers and oscilloscopes.

Also the above guide is copied from the DUO guide, i'm taking about tg16 cd / pce cd - are the pots the same?

i think you must be looking at the Turbo Duo sticky.....

Neither the tg cd laser swap guide nor the capacitor replacement and adjustment sticky have the info in them

I was wondering guys is there was a definitive guide on adjusting the pots on the pce cd? i read threads where people mention using frequency probes and oscilloscopes but can't find no actual guide on doing this.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a box full of ifu systems on a recent trip to Japan and are in the process of refurbing them and it would be nice to have a guide to the cd drives.

i don't currently own a oscilloscope or anything like that but would purchase one if that's the best way to calibrate the drives.
