Thank you for the level head.  As NW pointed out by my own admission I don't live on this site so I didn't see anything that originally went down.  As is the case in most disputes the truth is in the middle.

Every single person that is a member there is a member here and don't plan on leaving either site.  It's obviously more light hearted and any "spamming" is typically making fun of DoxPhile itself/ perpetuating that DoxPhile itself is a joke.  The chat over there was created as an additional option to communicate in real time.  Also, the scans and such are very cool and as a fan of PCE/TG if you can't appreciate the effort put forth to digitally preserve all of that stuff then it's kind of a shitty way of thinking.

I don't visit here (or DoxPhile) as much these days because life and mostly being away from home for my kids' sports, etc.  When I saw chat box for the first time I thought it was cool that THIS forum now had an option to communicate in real time.  Kudos to you for putting it together and running it.  I think everyone, including dildophilers, appreciate the effort.  However, you're blowing this way out of proportion.  Perhaps you somehow take this all personal for some reason?  If Null was truly trying to shut this place down I'm surprised he hasn't already made wall of text posts complaining the chat box itself is robbing DoxPhile of it's 5 members.

Welcome!   I'm also very new here, and somewhat new to the Turbo.  It's an easy system to fall in love with. I'd recommend finding a CD unit at some point, and a way to play games from all regions, as there are a ton of great CD titles.

He'll be set with the everdrive playing hu games from all regions and CD games are region free if he ever upgrades.

High refresh monitors are where it's at.  I have a 144hz ViewSonic that I love.  The monitor I paired with my kids' system is a nice 60hz Asus I got on sale.  The side by side difference is crazy.

Glad to hear you're liking Ryzen.  I'm still rocking an FX-8370 @ 4.7 ghz and a RX 580.  I sold an RX 480 8gb I had in another system for twice what I paid for it 6 months ago (thanks miners) and built a nice little gaming PC for my kids with a G4560 and GTX 1060 3gb (lucky to have nabbed one at retail).

One of my favorite things is trying to put systems together for super cheap that will handle AAA games at or above 60 FPS.  I recently put together a Dell T3500.  Upgraded to a Xeon X5687, an HD 7970 I bought broken for $36 and revived.  It also has a WD Blue 500gb and random PNY 128gb SSD.  I have a grand total of $215 in the whole deal and it runs everything above 60fps at high settings.  Building PC's is fun!

If your looking to have your NES modded for RGB I'd recommend looking up Yurkie at AtariAge. He did mine and I couldn't be happier with his work.

He does good work and also happens to live only a few blocks from me.  It's been convenient when I need to grab an NES RGB board in short order.  I am extremely impressed with Hi-Def NES mod for those that want to play on modern displays.

I second most of what was recommended.  I personally wouldn't use an original PSU at this point and there are plenty of folks that produce high quality modern built PSU's for Commodore.  #1 mod you can do is jiffydos.  #2 is flash drive (I have an internally mounted SD2IEC on mine).  I would also recommend grabbing one of the S-video cables on ebay that are made for C64.  I also have a canibalized NES controller modded for my C64.  I have "up" also wired to "a button" as most games use "up" to jump.

Maintenance wise I would just replace all of the ram and I would highly recommend replacing the original PLA chip.  The only replacement I would use would be PLAnkton. 

As far as games, I can't believe nobody mentioned Space Taxi.

Given that Doujindance has, apparently, modified hundreds (!) of Duos I think this thread should be pinned at the top of the TG/PCE Repair/Mod Discussion since the technique for epoxy removal will...probably have to be learned by all of us at some point.

The guy in the video kind of annoys me. I get what he's saying, and lots of non-annoying people only become annoying when you listen to them for 40 minutes like I just did, but he does kinda come off as self-aggrandizing to some extent. Also, if I were to rag on Doujindance for that long I'd concentrate on more of what a culture crime it is to fuck up hundreds of Duos more than what he's charging for it. This is a subtle distinction, I don't expect anyone to get it.

I once posted a picture of a mod I did (Duo R region hack, same thing as here) and everyone here laughed at me because the wires I used were so thick. That modded system has been my daily ever since (2006) and has outlasted literally tens of millions of XBoxes and Playstations, that is, the system itself (go NEC!) and my big gauge region mod. This guy's crap somehow quits working even with enough epoxy to make the back of the HuCARD socket the most durable and indestructible part of the system.

At work we're doing this project involving portable poop/steam powered generators and the control units of the oil control units are completely filled with epoxy. %100 impossible to ever service...and this is common in industrial applications, but this is done with stuff that is built with almost no compromises in materials or design anywhere in the module so a) the odds of anything failing are low and b) if it does the cost of repair is anticipated/understood. There are no horrible surprises from the next guy to look at it. "Hey yeah, sir, we opened up your system and it turns out its completely filled with glue. I can't fix it. Come pick it up. No, I'm not interested in being paid flat rate to pick glue out of your POS, sir."

You can power a generator with poop? Servicing those must be a real shitty job!

I was thinking the same thing.  My first thought was methane but, I also remember reading an article awhile back about a process that turns sludge into pellets that can be burned like coal.  We must know the answer!
