12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Also to blame is the rise of smart phones. I've been doing flea markets for about 4-5 years now, and I will agree the finds seem to get worse. More and more I will see people selling small amounts of games, who used to just sell them cheap ,individually price them based on price charts or ebay because they can always look up a price on their phone.

Still I do find some decent gaming related stuff. Mostly ps1/ps2/wii stuff at the moment is really cheap. My best find of last year was picking up a bunch of ps2 shooters (shmups) for $1 each which I was pretty happy about. People seem to be nes/snes/n64 crazy at the moment. As far as turbo finds, I saw a keith courage once for $2 but passed because I already had it. I do see a few resellers with occasional turbo games but they don't count, and their prices are usually higher than ebay.

Quote from: ginoscope on 03/08/2016, 10:30 AMPeople just need to be patient with this stuff even on ebay.  If you can't wait for a decent price then you are going to overpay.

I saw this game recently for about $50 for a disc only which was not horrible but I wasn't looking for it at the time.  This past weekend a Lords of Thunder ended for $88.  Yes, $88 is still a lot but sure beats the $150-200 this game usually goes for.
Agree with this 100%. I do buy some stuff on ebay and you actually can find deals if you are patient. It usually helps to be looking for multiple things and opposed to just one specific item. One thing I find that helps is to look at the newly listed items also. I've picked up a few newly listed buy it nows that are way under the average auction prices. All in all same thing, be patient or be prepared to overspend. Unfortunately ebay is full of people willing to overspend.

Just recently 1cced super star soldier, the robot boss is tough but the difficulty also really spikes in the last few levels. I basically had to beat the game without dying because one death on the last few levels is really tough to recover from, and dying on one of the forms of the last boss makes the brain at the end super difficult with the basic weapon.

Very nice to see this raffle!! Obviously don't enter me, I have a duo and my post count is low. Just wanted to say good luck to all the people entering, and that this makes me want to be more active on these forums and do some raffles myself.

To be honest I was hoping they made it to the boss rush because that part actually does take a bit of practice. With the way they were going there would be no way they'd make it thru even half of it.

I was thinking the same thing. Wow they really suck at this game. It seems like they don't memorize the enemy movements and try to run thru parts where it won't end well.

Anyways hopefully the price doesn't increase. They did splatterhouse not that long ago, and I don't think the price really changed for that one.

Got my duo system today and its perfect!! Great seller!!

I always think about picking this game up as well. It's only $10 on amazon or half.com from the same seller. He also has Dragon Spirit factory sealed for $35 on half which is tempting.

General Gaming / Re: AES or MVS?

I have owned both AES and MVS stuff in the past but sold it and got out about 10 years ago. If you really just want to play the games on original hardware MVS all the way. If you really like collectable stuff that will break your bank account AES.

Most really must own neogeo games are not that pricey on MVS relative to AES unless you are collecting full arcade kits. You can be paying easily $300 and up for decent AES games.

As far as hardware goes, when I had a MVS setup instead of getting a consolized one, I just invested in a good supergun and then got the board. If you look around you can find ones that even can support AES and neo geo cd pads. Then you can also hook up jamma, CPS2, etc, although getting into arcade pcbs is also slippery expensive slope.

Welcome!! What games have you been playing so far??

Can anyone comment on how these are for shmups on the dreamcast. I don't own many fighters but I do have a few shmups and always thought about getting one. Any thoughts??

As far as the price trends go I think that we do see a decline eventually with most games, with the exception of rare games prolly staying high. I do think the 1st party n64 games that are really fun do hold some decent value, but as others have said, many of them are not rare and once either the fad declines or everyone who wants these copies has them the prices will decrease.

I think a good example of this was the Final Fantasy 7 price for playstation 1 about 5-6 years ago. This game was regularly going for >$50 for a greatest hits copy and $100 for the black label for basically no reason. It wasn't rare by any means, it was just highly sought after at the time and everyone wanted a copy. Just a quick scan of the pricing charts to prove my point. In April 2008 it reached an average high of $70, and today it is around $17. I think eventually we see the same with a good amount of the N64 stuff and I welcome it.

Minus the pce/turbo, I'll say snes also. Great library of rpgs, chrono trigger, earthbound, ff2 and 3, super mario rpg, secret of mana, lufia 2, etc. I was also a huge UN squadron fan, and so many other memorable games that many people have already mentioned.

If it's open to everyone sign me up. I would love to unseal and play that bad boy. If not good luck to everyone else.

Never beat this one but had it and played it a lot as a child. The music instantly pops in my head when I see the title. Maybe it's time to try to beat it.

Nice wild guns. I'm super jealous. I've been looking for that one for awhile now and it seems the price just keeps going up.

I can also confirm decent shipping time. I order one fairly recently and had it exactly 10 days after the confirmation.
#22
I also really liked the tales of the abyss port and kingdom hearts if you like action rpgs

Quote from: esteban on 07/18/2014, 06:01 AMBest Chiptune music ever, arguably.

I am trying to think of how I can get a few folks together for a party of 2-4 bastards.
Agreed the intro music is one of my favorites on the turbo, and the rest is fantastic also.

Quote from: HailingTheThings on 07/14/2014, 04:57 PMOMG don't even get me started on Wild Guns. (I'm gonna start anyway)

They had it at a local shop (now closed) for cheap, but I didn't know what it was. After I got home that day from shopping, I kept thinking about the name "Wild Guns... Wild Guns.." So I looked it up on youtube, I thought it was awesome.

Then looked up what it normally goes for, I was shocked to see (at the time) it was going for around $90. At that shop it was $20-30, can't remember exact price. So, of course I went back and it was gone. Bah. Bah, I say, bah.

I personally blame Mike Matei's SNES hidden gem video for that game's inflated price, but whatevs It would've eventually went up since its a sweet game.
AVGN has the same effect on bad games. I wonder how much he's pushed up the price of action 52, not to mention that one's rare to begin with. I'm also pretty sure Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is going for around $10 now.

Also, find me a copy of Pocky & Rocky at one of these flea markets, Mister NES man. hehe

I don't think I've seen that one unless it was a reseller, but if I find it for a steal consider it yours. You are looking for the first one??
I'm looking for both, but I'll settle on just the first one since the second is ridiculously hard to find. A friend and I used to play the crap out of Pocky & Rocky when we were little and the only two times since then that I've seen it in the wild were 1.) Someone grabbing it out from under me and 2.) for $50 at a local shop one of the times I was low on cash.

I know the feeling. Gotta love old games you played as a child that have skyrocketed in price. I've been trying to find wild guns forever now. Showed up to a yard sale and someone was already buying a $20 lot of games with it in there. Almost cried.

Hello everyone just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris, and I am an avid retrogamer. I've been into mostly NES and SNES for a long time. As a child my family did have a turbografx 16, which I still have, and its becoming more and more my favorite. As a big videogame fan, I do a lot of looking at flea markets and sometimes yard sales, yet I have never seen any turbo stuff other than keith courage. Figured I would start out here to learn a bit more because I love turbo stuff. I would also like to take a quick moment to say I am a gamer first, a collector second, and not a reseller ever. I see multiple resellers at every flea market selling there games at high or higher than ebay prices and just want to punch them.

A couple things that I have are a US TG16 system and a Japanese Duo-R. I have about 10-15 games, nothing really rare. My favorites are shooters and platformer/action games. My top 3 favs that I own and have played are gate of thunder, blazing lazers, and legendary axe 2.

Anyways I wanted to say a quick hello, and so far everyone I have talked to has been very nice. I will be at the VGS on Saturday, and would like to meet anyone in person who is there.

Thanks, and I look forward to meeting people Saturday.
