2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Are you all sold out yet?  I want to buy one of the SCD+CGII units in a couple of weeks, if possible.  Got fired from my job and had to sell the white one I bought from you a while back (a sad, sad day that was.  At least it went to someone who will appreciate it, and not just a collector).

No, but it's in reasonable condition.  Good luck finding that, though.  Especially with the cardboard box.

Nice to see crazybaconlips making his annual post!
I do most of my posting on SelectButton.net.  I pretty much just read the various threads ("useless thoughts") and check if there are any new mods.

Monster Bonce still hasn't replied.  Hm.  Anyone else want my copy?

Yeah, I mentioned that earlier in the post.  However, the Wiki on the PCE has lately been greatly expanded, and discusses this subject at length.  Thanks anyway!

Even the guide on the front page, which is quite detailed and handsome-looking, doesn't give all the information I need.  A couple questions remain.

1: Do I need a System Card to play any games at all in a gray DUO or white CD-ROM2 unit, or are they built in?
2: Is the Arcade Card DUO essentially the ultimate system card?  Will it allow me to play Super CD-ROM2 games as well as Arcade Card games?

So, about the Duo.  It's a gray PC-Engine (JP) Duo, with no real cosmetic blemishes and all the necessary cords.  It plays Hucard games without any problem; I was enjoying Ninja Spirits the other day, even.  HOWEVER, the CD Drive does not spin for some reason.  Well, it spins for a while.  Then it eventually stops, and the system says "Please Set Disc!!!" or something like that.  It's pretty sad.  As such, I will sell the system for the low, low price of $60, OBO.  The site oldschoolgamer.ca can repair it for a reasonable price, and there's probably a couple others out there that can do it if you search.

Also, I'm selling Ninja Spirits (complete, w/plastic slipcover and styrofoam rectangle) for . . . $15.

Shipping will be calculated (PM me a zip code), and the service will be USPS.

my ebay account name is crazybaconlips.  I have 100% positive feedback, with 32 feedbacks total.

I tried to install the laser on an original Japanese Duo (not a Duo-R or RX), but it doesn't seem to work.  I didn't pull out any of the wires, though I did expose one a little towards the point where its attached to the plug.  Gray Duos don't have the same mainboard setup as the Duo-Rs, so the picture they used on their website doesn't really explain to me where the third plug that must be pulled is located.  Here, I'll show you the image I'm referring to:

duolens2.jpg

The one that says "Pull this first" isn't on the regular Duo, at least not as far as I can see.

So what ends up happening is that I put in a CD, it spins for a short while, emitting a high-pitched whine, and then it stops and says "Please set the disc!"  Help!
