I actually told MotherGunner about these cases and he posted before me. We actually work together. LOL. I'd love to contribute more, but really just so busy I usually find all the information I need from such great posts that I rarely need to comment. I hope to post some pictures once I get some covers printed for them.

Does anyone know if Hastings even carries these anymore in their retail stores? I've read as recent as 2013 some people drove to get some. I can't seem to even find an online shop selling the exact same clear ones with a mini DVD insert. So I bet these things are extinct.

P.S. Speaking of n00b.
The name XtraN stands for Xtra Noob. Back in the day I sucked so bad at Counter Strike I came up with that alias as a reminder I was a noob and to worry about it. It may have been Xtra-N back then. Not sure.

Please enter me! I'd love to play this game. With Capcom remaking DuckTales, this would be a great game to play until it comes out. They remastered the original song as well. Sounds so good! Though it might be because we didn't have a stereo TV back then. Heh.

I thought I sent you a PM already, but it looks like I'm mistaken. Sending another.

Thanks!

Heh, I once got some Integra Type-R parts shipped (from Japan) in 2 grocery bags covering end to end wrapped with a bunch of large plastic wrap!
It was mess...

Parts were fully exposed because it pierced through the packaging. Well of course it would!

Luckily it wasn' damaged. There's no way these people can think it's safe to ship do they? Geeze.

Quote from: "stevek666"The fact that the old 2.0 BIOS worked, yet the 3.0 didn't -- well, that's a puzzler.

Yea, How the heck can the the broken 3.0 card work with 2.0 games?
- It could be because the 3.0 has 2.0 and 3.0 bios information seperately(sp) so the 3.0 bios is corrupt, while the 2.0 is intact
- maybe it is the RAM is bad. if the 2.0 card has memory for game saves only, that could explain 2.0 games runing and not 3.0..

problem solved. It was the Super System Card 3.0! I just got another one from an eBayer from Japan! So back-ups and original SCDs are now working flawlessly.  :D

I wonder how everything else on the card seems to work except the extra RAM, or maybe some BIOS code? Could it be exposure to a magnet? Which I most certanly did not do. Is it possible to repair/reflash? Probably not worth the trouble, eh?

OK, I'm on a mission!

- MagicEngine forums notified!

Maybe we should start a Turbo Duo remake petition as well? I know Mr. pcengine-fx.com mentioned that there was some word about getting something like this rolling, but he said good timing was crucial. I guess it should be left up to him.

Great Info! Thank You. SOunds easy. No soldering required. Now I just need to find me one! Forgotten Worlds and SFII CE ae shipped and on there way!

I really want to keep this old scholl and use an Avenue 6 pad, BUT...
has anyone tried soldering a PSone (non-analog) controller? I'm wondering if I should be so brave as to try this.  I wouldn't see how this could break a system, it should simply work or not...right? :D

OK, not sure what other one's there are. I'm a newb :)

I hope this is OK, I posted this in the other 2 sub categories on this forum "PC-FX General Discussion" and "PC-Engine/SuperGrafx General Discussion",
If not I can delete them.

At Pcenginefx's request, this is a repost from the "TG-16/TE/TurboDuo General Discussion" section.

After reading another post about someoone wishing for the Team Messiah to remake a console for the PC Engine crowd. I found a petition for the company to make us wireless controllers.
QuoteMessiah Entertainment, Inc. Has recently released new accessories for dead 8-16 bit systems like the NES and SNES. Their biggest sellers are thhe NES clone and their Wireless controllers for NES and SNES. They are developing wireless controllers for Genesis and Atari 2600 as well as a wireless Advantage stick for the NES. I spoke with someone in the company about if they would consider making a wireless controller for Turbo Duo and Turbo Grafx 16 and they would if it had much support. To all those who collect and still love NEC's console, please sign :D

EDIT: So I found a little more info, so I'd like to rephrase my original question...

So, has anyone tried to re-wire and Avenue 6 pad to a standard Turbo connector?

Thanks again!

my old post
QuoteCan anyone give their opinion on this converter? I've searched and haven't found everything I needed to know.

- 3 and 6 button games work?
(I read at Lik-Sang that the 3/6 button feature doe not work)
- do I have to re-wire it for the TG16 or Duo

Thanks!

OH this Episode is GREAT!! Awesome quality, very professional! I love it.

I agree. that video ad is great! I remember this either at Montgomery Wards or TRU. Not sure, but I DO remember standing there watching it over and over and dreaming the day I would own one!!!

Good stuff! Thanks for the hard work! Look forward to the next episode!

Quote from: "rolins"Have you tried cleaning the gold contacts of your system card?

Not yet, but I plan on cleaning the barney converter too. But what if it is truely dirty, then why would a normal CD game work?

Quote from: "rolins"Also, are you playing games on cd-r backups or originals?

All are back-ups except Fighting Street. I also made a back-up of Fighting Street and it plays as good as the original. So my media & burn software seem to be making great back-ups.

I have some other games, from over-seas, on their way over, so maybe it will help me figure out what really is wrong. I still think it points to the System Card. It seems like the extra RAM is what is hosed. I'm thinking that Forgotten world runs with bad textures because it was coded to use the extra RAM as a buffer for all the textures, while the other 2 games may have been coded to use the extra RAM for actual code. I'm just trying to undestand the different results I'm getting. My best bet is to  get my hands on another System 3.0 or Arcade Card Pro card.

On that note, I believe I read somewhere that some SCD games may not run correctly with the Arcade Card Pro. Is this true? So should I plan on owning both, or just get the Arcade Card Pro or I should be covered?

Thanks!

So, no one is commenting, I guess you're as stumped as I am?

Hi everyone!

This is a little weird so maybe someone can help me.

So I have a Super System Card 3.0 with a Purple Barney that will run normal CD games but not SCD games! I have tried a CD import game (which doesn't work -- read more below), but I recall that different regions are not a factor for CD games. I also haven't tried an PC Engine huCard game. That said, I still think the converter is not the issue. Thanks!

Games that work
Fighting Street (u)
Last Alert (u)

Game that do not work
Dracula X (j) - starts to load and keeps spinning (sometimes the will be a little white square on the screen that shows up, then disc keeps spinning)
Forgotten Worlds (u) - game loads and sounds work perfect, but graphics extremely scrambled. Another thing I noticed is that FOrgotten Worlds DID create save data on the Super System Card 3.0 card
Lords of Thunder (u) - starts to load and then a vertical pink rectangle shows up in the lower right side of screen and disc just keeps spinning

so the facts that I concluded from all of this
- successful Super System Card 3.0/adapter connection
- successful adapter/TurboGrafx connection
- System Card 3.0 formats and accepts save data
- SCD games lock up

So what can be wrong!? Could everything on the Super System Card 3.0 work except the extra RAM? :( I paid for this item through eBay and need to figure out if I need to ask for a refund and pick up another one.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Quote from: "MotherGunner"Actually no, never thought of a converter request, I got my Duo-R from D-lite already modded...Get it modded, trust me, you won't regret it.

Yea, I already tried e-mailing D-lite a week  ago. He never responded. Maybe I'll try again. I found the how-to online, but Im not sure I'll have the time. It looks like a fun challenge. I just don't want to mess up though!

QuoteYou mean NEC ones? :D

Yea, sorry for the confusion.
#24
Quote from: "dj898"there's official one made by NEC for PC Engine line up.
I have the wireless multi-tap and two pads...
Ihaven't done testing it on TurboDuo since I haven't got one but using the converter cable I don't see why it wouldn't work...

I know it's not easy to track them down especially if you don't want to spend more then 3000 yen for both...

Yea. I just saw a photo those NECE ones online today. The Messiah team did an excelleant job designing the NES ones. Good mixture of old school design with a dash of new. I'd hope to the same price point as the NES ones.

Anyone think we can convince them to make a PC Enginge converter card too!! Something at a decent price point like $20-$40?
#25
Hey Mothergunner,

When you talked to the Messiah rep, did you ask them about making a  PC-Engine Converter? That would be less of an investment and there might be more people interested in this alternative. I'm planning to do the internal mod myself, but I'd rather leave my system virgin plus if possible. Plus it's gonna be a pint in the @ss.  I know TZD has a converter, but that just seems way to much for what it is. This thing should only cost around $20-ish buck-a-roos. Well, maybe just wishfull thinking...

Would anyone else want something like this if it cost effective?
