I can't speak for the PS2 version of Ys III, but Arc System Works actually did the port for Ys IV, I haven't played it in a very long time, but I do not remember them changing too much for the PS2 version (take that with a grain of salt). I'm not entirely sure what documents they were given by Falcom, but Falcom was never exactly happy with Ys IV before the release of Memories of Celceta.

The reason for the two different versions for PCE/TG16 and SFC/SNES was because Falcom passed the project onto two different teams (Hudson for PCE, Tonkin House for SFC). For a while  Mask of the Sun (SFC) was considered the canon because it stuck closer the technical documentations given by Falcom. Hudson took some liberties to try and make the setting and plot more marketable (there is a trailer for the pitch for an anime based on this version out there), but in these changes strayed away from the original documentation given by Falcom. With that said it always made me sad that SFC was canon over the PCE game because I had so much more fun with the PCE version.

Ys V for SFC has two versions Ys V and Ys V Expert. Expert was released a few months after the initial release after comments about how easy the first release was. There is also a PS2 remake of this, and was a bit more substantial than the Ys III or Ys IV remakes.

I have that screw.
I see exactly where the plate and the two screws pictured go, but where the two springs go is the question
#3
I have a link to a picture with the parts in question in the op, unless there's something missing from that one

I did not see any videos of anyone taking apart the lid of the Duo-R on youtube :( If anyone has a link i'd love to see it!

So long story short, I took my Duo-R apart about a month and a half ago to retrobrite it and replace the A/V port then got busy with school. Now I want to play Exile and I cannot remember how this lid is supposed to go back on the unit. I have a metal bracket, two springs and two screws. The Duo-R doesn't really "pop" open all the way like some other systems, I remember this much. But how this is supposed to go back on the system- I forget. I see where the metal bracket should go, but I forget where these springs are supposed to be. Anyone help an idiot out here?

Quote from: guest on 08/07/2014, 05:15 AMso... how are the prices? I'm sure some people here would happily take some of those boxed goodies off your hands if you were to facilitate purchase/shipping.  I see some good stuff on the Facebook page. Not fair to dangle this stuff in front of us with no avenue to buy the stuffs. :D
We try to be as fair as we can with our prices, keeping in mind of course we need to make enough to stay open.  Most of our pricing is based off of average market value and if it looks like somethings off we definitely have no problem looking into the price.

As far as the pictures that go on the facebook page, almost every picture we take is taken right when the items come in the store because we're excited that we got cool stuff in haha. If you see something posted that you're interested in you're more than welcome to call the store up and ask about it (I'd call after 4PM, which is when the owner or myself are in), shipping stuff is something we have no problem doing! Getting our inventory online is sorta hard to do, sadly :(

Didn't see a single store in PA, so here I'll throw this out there- (It's in Philadelphia)

Classic Game Junkie, 111 South Easton Rd Glenside PA 19038

Full disclosure, I work at the store. We have a pretty okay stock of loose HuCards for PCE, oddly more than our loose US games. We've been getting in a lot of boxed TG16 games lately though too. CD games are a bit harder to come by but we somehow find some good stuff (We had a mint copy of Super Air Zonk until recently even) along with some hardware for sale.

If anyone's in the area feel free to stop by and check out our TG16/PCE stuff, I love talking about this stuff!

Yes sir, I always feed the solder joint a bit of solder when I reflow a pin.
#9
That's what I was figuring, I imagine that pretty much any right angle DIN-5 or DIN-8 connector will work? It's a standard connector so I can't imagine much of a difference between different connectors from different vendors. Is that the case?

Entirely possible it's a cold solder joint, I took the top off the system to inspect the caps but didn't check the bottom of the board. I'll reflow the pins and test it.
<edit>Did the reflow on the pins, fixed the video going in and out unless I toy with the connector, did not fix the missing right audio channel though, so unless I'm missing something it looks like I might need to replace the port...

First real post here, been having a blast with my new PC Engine, everything seems to be in good order (outside of cosmetic yellowing, but i'll take care of that at a later time) outside of the A/V jack. The CD drive is great, the caps appear to have already been replaced by it's previous owner too!

There appears to be an issue with the physical DIN connector on the console for the A/V out. I've checked continuity on the cable itself, there's nothing wrong with the cable. I need to play with the cable in the back of the system until I get video/audio, so it has to be the connector itself, right?

I've seen an RGB mod video (not something I'm immediately interested in doing, but if I'm replacing the jack maybe i should just go the distance on it) with someone replacing the DIN-5 with a DIN-8 for RGB out, so I figure the DIN-5 is something I should be able to buy off the shelf too, does anyone know a drop in replacement for the A/V out on a Duo-R?

This appears to be the place that everyone is introducing themselves to the forum, so excuse me if that assumption was wrong.

Hi, I'm tigre, retro gaming enthusiast. I've been meaning to buy a PC Engine Duo-R for ages, but I found a better price than I was seeing on ebay via YJA a few weeks back and won the bid on it (placed an order through a proxy service with some other items a friend wanted). Today my Duo-R arrived at my friends place, and my account here was activated! What timing.

I'm happy to have such a resource available to me now for information, and I look forward to reading up even more on my new toy!
