2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I hate reproductions for games in all aspects, but this is probably the exception, CLEARLY  a reproduction from anyone who is not a complete moron. And a good price for some games most of us will never own :)

Nice stuff!

Quote from: viper0hr on 08/04/2015, 05:11 AMI watched star Trek with my dad growing up alot,
Yeah same here, for me we watched together the reruns in the eighties of the first original Star Trek.

I've always thought Next Generation was by far the best. I love all the great characters like Data, Worf, Jean-Luc, Geordi, Wesley etc..
Yeah NG is my favorite series of ST by far. I just re watched the whole thing last month.

Quote from: wildfruit on 08/04/2015, 06:59 AMI'm a big voyager fan but people seem to hate on it a lot. Janeway is smoking and the ship design is beautiful. Too much holodeck tho.
I would agree, Voyager was great, but way too much holodeck.

So I have been rewatching alot of Star Trek lately, and just started watching Enterprise again.

I watched star Trek with my dad growing up alot, and I can remember watching Enterprise when it was released with him and enjoying it at the time, and in years since it is seen as the "bastard son" of Star Trek in the way the prequels are to Star Wars.

This got me thinking, what are some series you love even though most people do not, and why?

Rewatching Enterprise the way they did the tech (It being the past, done after the other series in real life) actually worked well in comparison, the story is actually well done for the most part for Star Trek standards (I feel like they went into Time Travel too early and that made alot of people not like it, Episode 1, REALLY? lol), and overall the acting is pretty good for TV of the time.

Nostalgia may have some factor to it, but even with all the stuff I notice that is off/not right, the series overall hold up, to me.

(Oh, and before it's posted, WE KNOW, Blakes 7 yada yada yada :p)

Quote from: esteban on 07/31/2015, 01:45 PMI have heard mixed reviews for Grave of the Fireflies—so, is it worth watching? DISCUSS....
It's...ok?
I'd watch it in Japanese, I only watch anime with Subs due to awful voice acting, except GitS and CB, and a few others :p

With GotF its hit or miss person to person.
I myself really enjoy war time movies and war history as well as anime, and overall "liked" the movie, though some parts were boring/overdone IMO.
I would recommend watching it though, and it's good to remember that the movie is based off of the writer/directors life growing up during WWII in japan.

If you can find the original series it's well worth a watch.
I watched the entire series on Crunchy Roll some time back. It's free to watch there.
Ok cool, I remember it being available there for a bit a while back, but they did not have all the episodes.

Finding that series 8 years ago was near fucking impossible because it never saw a US release, it took me over a month to torrent the whole series because almost no one had it back then :/ .

The movie was one of the first things anime related I ever watched back on Sci Fi channel when i was super young haha, it really is a great series, and was extremely influential in sci fi/future space anime that followed.

Quote from: PolygonDaily on 07/29/2015, 11:06 AMis it difficult to mod a Duo-R to make it Region Free? i've modded consoles in the past, as well as phones so i do have experience (somewhat)
Kieth Courage here does really good mod/repair work on TG stuff and he would be your best bet honestly, unless you feel confident in your work.
He can mod them with AV and additional stuff too.
#11
Yeah very good buy man!
Looks in good shape too for the price, minus those top scuffs.

Yeah, it will probably be good, in the Japanese weird movie sense, haha.

TC is a surprisingly awesome series. I was shown it by a friend about 2 years ago who has been watching it forever and has the DVDs.

It's crazy how much he has hurt himself making these videos though :/
#16
I've been on an Oingo Boingo kick lately.
#17
I have not watched TV for more than 4 years now.
My "free time" is spent playing games, watching youtube, watching a very select few series or movies, or reading.

Youtube has some awesome channels for sure, and I actively watch upwards of 30. I would HIGHLY recommend Crash Course for those who love to learn, and Rooster Teeth and Game Grumps are a must for game/comedy fans.
#18
But I defiantly don't think it is gona break him, he has stuff still coming pout I am pretty sure.
#19
I used to really like AS as a comedian and "actor", but his latest stuff has been meh at best.
However I have heard mixed reviews about Pixels, I may see it when i get a chance.
#20
I used to have a zip file I made with all the games US and JPN organized with doubles removed (Dual releases) but I'm sure there is another similar file out there.
You'll love having the Everdrive, mine has never given me an issue and it's an easy way to play all the games you don't have for the console.
#22
Yeah, I'd just pay for the legit good ones.
I have an NES Everdrive,a dn a Tg16 one and love them.
Never had any issues.

Quote from: agent_orange on 07/27/2015, 09:29 PMNo really, the problem is people that contribute or do nothing really coming around looking for the good stuff.  The ratio of people wanting these games vs. people selling them is just increasing.  A lot of people come here thinking it's some small undiscovered gold mine in the corner of the internet.  And it is, depending on what you are looking for.  Not in a tangible way, but real good peeps.  I wish a lot of other consoles had a small tight community like this, but unfortunately we are stuck with clowns that heard about this place on nintendoage or neo-geo.
I was actually told about this site from a guy I know who was a member back in 2009 and told me I should check it out...

But yeah message received, I should go fuck myself because I chose not to stick around posting for a year in a community that treated me like a criminal from the day I joined lmao.

Quote from: viper0hr on 07/27/2015, 08:29 PMYeah, it is a reboot. I joined this site a year or so ago when I was starting to get my full Tgb16 set, so I figured I would come back now that I am missing mainly big titles, as they rarely show up for sale on eBay and other places...Glad to see that the community has grown up so much and are still so nice and helping :p
ok, but what do you expect to get out of this place?  somebody to just hand you a deal better than ebay after the thread from a year ago and really no contributions since?  just an annual "check-in"?  half of the people in here don't have most of the R@R3Z, but come here to chat it up about video games, turbo, nulls fat ass, hair dryers, wmac, soop & donna, secret santa, raffles, stardate armageddon, car wings, raffle thieves, toys, music, teh what did you buy today, FEKA, ebay gripes, tool assisted speed runs, photography, snow storms, parasites, butts, our kids, homebrews, careers, nostalgia, 3d printing, art projects, mods/repairs, flea markets, yard sales, thrift stores, movies, manual misprints, apostrophes, etc.
I just figured I'd post here as well since I am a member and I have been watching eBay and other places and have not seen much in terms of what I need, except at 4x the selling value sitting unsold for months.
I never said I wanted hand outs, I never said I wanted deals, just looking for games I am missing that I can't find elsewhere.

I have been gone for a year because this community is not a very nice place for newcomers, regardless of their intent, I just had hoped the attitude had changed somewhat in a year.
#28
Gouging has become terrible on eBay with rares of all games, but TG16 def has some assholes up there, you would think after 100+ times of relisting you'd lower your prices a bit.
#29
Everyone here has said it already, pack the good stuff yourself. Make sure to wrap/cushion stuff too, jewel cases tend to break easily in moves.

Quote from: BlueBMW on 07/26/2015, 10:40 PMLooks like you still need all the expensive ones...

Gosh i hate what the retro scene has become...  I GOTTA HAVE A FULL SET!  BECAUSE COLLECTARD!!

Fuck man, does anyone actually play anything anymore or is all about filling that shelf?!

End Rant
Eh, I actually like playing my TG16 which is why I even want a full set. It's the only console I collect for other than the 64 that I bother to play often, which is why I am also going for a full set of that.
I like that apparently I am lumped in with "what the retro scene has become" though, because you know how long I have been collecting so well obviously lol.

Quote from: johnnymad on 08/05/2014, 07:01 PMI'm constantly stopping at thrift stores and flea markets looking for video games. Been checking stores for about 8 years but really only started focusing on games the past 3 or so. Have found games for many systems and the consoles themselves but never anything TG related. Any of you guys find anything good out there?
I found my TG express at a yard sale about 2 years ago.
Near Mint with a TV tuner, they used it as a TV for hurricanes (Florida). Described the games to the woman and she said she had some and then when I called her a week later she told me she could find them online for me for a fee (Um, no lmao) and she did ebay.
Got it for $8 so can't complain though.

Other t5han that never seen any TG stuff EVER in the wild and only the most basic games at most games stores if they even have anything.
#38
Not much of a surprise when you only have 6 copies to sell.
Would have made more sense to make at least a run of 25 with a case and artbook as well.
#39
I'll have to give this a watch when i get a chance.
#40
Mine would be Splatterhouse.
As I Nintendo guy mainly it's not available to play and the Tg16 just looks so damn good that it is the best way to play it IMO.
Since then I have fallen in love with many of the games, but SH would be the main one.
#41
Man, how dare I join a collecting forum for a console, and then try to collect for it.
HOW DARE I!?!

Pat the NES Punk is an avid TG16 fan and has a full set. He has made many videos on TG16 over the years, I don't see AVGN jumping prices too much.
