Keith Courage saves the day. Cleand the hell out of it prior to asking and your trick did it's magic. I'm going ultra on this mofo
#2
Did the eraser and owner even poped the cheery on a nib card
#3
Arcade duo will work on duo/-r/rx. The pce with interface require the arcade card pro
#4
Seems a possessed system has landed on the bench.

The system card test fine on other pce but not this one. It will load with alternating color screens each boot but the arcade card pro loads just fine. I believe they are the same type of card other then extra ram?

Help expunge the demons!
#5
your going to stress that system.

Replace them all and be done with it for 15 years
#6
good luck to you sir and make sure to clean all the old junk off prior to new caps.

any issues many good members hear can chime in on where to look
#7
im in USA and do RGB. just change out the din and build scart to your specs jp or euro.

I would hope your duo has had its caps changed as i will not do the mod unless it has been done.

I think some members are in Canada and can offer the rgb
#8
Man this is a epic repro. Seems ill have to put more time in on the forum. Looks so good but im not worth member just yet.

Keep up the good work Sparky
#9
Just checking in noticed I put 1uf not .1uf as I should have.
#10
I use this for my RGB only need's.

Some things changed from original is use of 5.1M resistors for each color input to ground.
Using 0.1uf on all inputs and one bridged power and ground rail's. For the output i use 75Ohm and 220uf.

Not sure what it will help just my use of this amp
#11
I do it a bit different.

On the back with all the pins for the hu notice two notches in the metal.

Shove a small flat screw driver in under the metal and ontop of the plastic and lift slightly til the metal clears the plastic tab and hold it with one had. Do the same with the other tab and as you raise it push the metal forward the hand that is holding the raised one.  The whole thing will slide forward and off.

it depends where you get them from. Stay away from  "New" and china = fail!

i use mouser or digikey but price is not great if you just need one of something.
#17
The points at the start of this thread are great at getting you moving. It would best to start with the best music CD you have to test the new laser.

The cap work on this looks factory quality so that cant be it. Where did you get this "new" laser? I have had my share of "new" old broken, reworked, china CRAP!

Quote from: guest on 10/23/2014, 07:45 PMI would congratulate crans, but instead, I must offer condolences. This was, is, and ever shall be a rubbish raffle.

you should all be ashamed.
I think its great to have it. My son and i will get some good use of it and should we find its not getting use we will toss it back as a raffle. Some members will be excluded.

Nice work guys.

Dont beat me but i love the look of a clean system. Will you offer in the future a switch free region chip for those who love to get down with a solder iorn? Turbo or PCE?
#21
oooo.. Add me
#22
when you get your cd to play can you play all tracks or just 1-2?
#23
OK I fully understand it's not the same just trying to save you some coin for your next software purchase vs having some mod your unit.
#24
I also can do the mod and have them in stock. (USA Based)

Since you have an Everdrive why would you not want to use it to back up your originals and not hack your system?
#25
To solder it in you should have no issue
#26
that would work also but not sure if he has a turbo controller.

Ill get everything packed up and print shipping in the AM if you still need it if not just let me know i can send the funds back no problem.
#27
I can't believe it I won.

You guys are the best to bestows such an honor.

First i would like to thank my mother and father for giving me life. Without them I would never be put on this earth.

Second for my three loving kids who are now forced to live in a 64bit or less gaming world.

Last and most importantly PunkinCyborg. Without your presents on this forum and the mutual love we all share for NEC, this awesome award would be pointless.

THANK YOU...THANK YOU......THANK YOU ALL!
#28
If you can do paypal im down.

Ill cover $3 of the shipping since that's about what it would cost to send it local. Can you PM me your address so we can see what total shipping is.

On a side note you can convert the PCE to turbo for far less then what this tap and shipping would cost. In USA local 8pin male solder connector is $0.69-2.00

If you have a solder iron or know some one who dose its as simple project as they get to chop and solder the new connector. Not sure if it has been documented in the form but i could make a new DIY post if its not.
#29
Best way would be to make your own but if you just want plug and play...

i have a PCE tap i can convert to TG this will give you 4 PCE ports out to one turbo connector. Cost would be $15 usd shipped to usa.
#30
i have two ready to be upgraded.  ill have to dig through this thread and see whats changed and work on it
#31
Im in Cali cost $88 shipped back 100% radial recap. Im backed up about a week atm

Turbokon is closer to you.

Im sure others will chime in
#32
I might have to take a trip to all electronic and make one. Now only if i can find a clone store to copy my self 10X to keep up with work.
#33
@turbokon

Looking forward to your report how this is better or worse then your current mod sold.
#34
you looking for a SMD kit or Leaded? if your in a real rush ratshack might have some hidden under the cell phones
#35
Game dudes is the spot. For TG not much but other classic systems take over half the store.
#36
Wow looks great next to print the whole shell of duo  :D

Keep us all posted im sure i could use some pars asap
#37
im going with blind tech or drunk or blind drunk idk.  Solder splash was all over and from the first sight of the board i knew it was not going to be a walk in the park fix.
#38
seems Q603 was not passing the 8v.  Chip tunes are back now
#39
So I picked up a broken duo that has broken audio and a prior person with zero skill or eye sight has mucked it all to hell fixing cap's ](*,).

Many caps backwards some popped and originals still in place with obvious corrosion all over the place and some chips shorted.

First thing I did was remove all the crap work and original cap's. Cleaned all pads tined and gave it a sonic wash.

Recapped and got the audio back to 10%. 4558 is missing voltage so checked and some legs where corroded off the chip, replaced it. The M51131L had some bridging top side, removed and cleaned and replaced. After this the audio has gone from 10% back to original zero.

Now I have no audio and seems the 4558 is getting weak power but none of the voltage it should. Jumped some via's to pads with lifted traces.

With all that knowledge I have found the rail that provides 8v is low at 1v. I would guess some diode or transistor is toast from reversed caps around the large transistors (they are working with correct voltage  5v/8v)

Prior to rebuilding the board 100%. Any known components I could check?
Thank you for looking.
#40
Add me in.

It gets lonely playing with my self. :-({|=
#41
We will all be looking forward to your finding's.
#42
Thank you turbokon. Seems I'll have to push the current ones I got real quick. One I can use but two others idk.....I can drop ship for you from California :D?
#43
Check every via and trace around the compositor for continuity I have repaired many mucked up diy cap jobs.   Look ar all component for solder splash.
#44
@TurboKon

What components are required to add into your existing rgb-comp pcb? Or is it imposable to mod and existing board i have?
#45
count me in
