Well, I don't happen to have one on me right now... I'm sure some forum user has intricate knowledge of the hardware though.

I'm looking to build my own 6 button pad to put inside an arcade stick, and I need technical info...

There's some here:

http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/turbocont.htm

But it's confusing as heck when you get to the 6-button section. Can anyone decipher it and provide more concise information?

Buy/Sell/Trade / Sanwa sticks too!
09/16/2006, 02:05 PM
Okay, I had not listed them because using Sanwa sticks is not really affordable... But if you want a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT or Seimitsu LS-32 (Japanese ball-top sticks), they are available for $29 extra to the order. The buttons will still be Happ because IMO they are just better, and we don't want prices getting crazy.
So for a Sanwa order, the stick and buttons charge will be $64 total versus $35 for all Happ parts.
Ball top colors for Sanwa/Seimetsu sticks: Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, Yellow.

Also, Happ Competition Sticks (NOT Ultimates, that was an error)
are available in Blue, Red, Yellow, Black, and Green.

Any other suggestions, let me know. I'm looking for other cases to use too. ~ ~

Howdy! Fixed a few mistakes in the first message.

Heh, that's my son. Soon as I finished the stick, he and my brother were clamoring for a turn. ~ ~

I have mastered modifying joysticks to work on the Turbo Dup/PC Engine,
and I replace the buttons with genuine Happ arcade parts - the finest available in America. Please note that I developed this stick mod for the Xbox 360, so from here out that's how it'll be referred to. If you want it for PCE though, not a problem.

The price is kind of high, but this is currently the only way to get an authentic arcade stick for the Xbox 360 besides building it yourself. These sticks far exceed the quality of the Hori Dead or Alive Stick, or any other joystick available in retail for other systems. They're the real deal! Sanwa sticks possibly coming some day?

Pics of the stick in action:

Check out that Guide button
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/eastx/360/ethanholdingstickguidebutton.jpg

The white button on the left side is the Guide button. The two black
buttons on the right are the Left and Right Thumbstick buttons. The 8
face buttons are A, B, X, Y, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, Left Trigger,
and Right Trigger.

I've worked out the costs of the components for ya:
Happ Competition Joystick & Buttons: $35
Check out the official Happ site to see that this is a competitive price:
http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/joysticks_amusement.htm Happ sticks are available in Blue, Red, Yellow, Black, and Green.
Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT or Seimitsu LS-32 Joystick & Happ Buttons: $64 These are Japanese short, ball-top style sticks. They are more expensive because they have to be imported, but some swear by their comfort. Ball top colors for Sanwa/Seimetsu sticks: Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, Yellow.

360 Wired Control Pad: $35
If you want this to work as a PC Engine controller, you must submit me a pad and this charge will be omitted.

Housing: Here you have a choice...
Street Fighter Anniversary Stick Housing $50 (No original box, poster, or comic included - add $20 if you desire these)
OR
Naki Housing
http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/cellngame...esstickJPG.jpg $30

Labor: $15. This is my profit!

Shipping: Estimated $15 for 1st class w/ Delivery Confirmation

You have your choice of button colors from the following:
Red, Blue, Black, Green, Yellow, White, Orange & Purple. Please be specific about what color *each* button will be.

Notes about buttons:
If you choose Street Fighter Anniversary Stick housing, the Start and
Back buttons will be black, smaller than standard size buttons.

The Guide and Left & Right Thumbstick buttons will not be Happ buttons
by default. They will be generic (but match the color of your stick)
unless you add $6 for genuine Happs.

If you do not want Left and Right Thumbstick buttons on the right side
of the unit, you can choose to exclude them. You can also leave out
the Back button if you want the Guide button to be on the top of the
stick instead of the side.

This modified stick will have a standard headset jack. The Microsoft
Xbox 360 Headset will not be useable unless you get an extension
cable, which I can add for $10 or you can order for yourself online. Many standard headsets are available that feature volume control and mute higher up on the cord than the Microsoft 360 headset as well.

You can choose to mail me an official Microsoft
wired pad (or PCE/Duo pad) or joystick housing if you'd rather not pay for those components.

My trade references: http://www.gametz.com/user=eastx

Please email me at segacon at gmail.com me with questions and requests.
Turnaround time is estimated at 2 weeks from payment. Paypal ($3 charge) or money orders are accepted.

The Japanese version of Battle of the Planets/G-Force is Gatchaman. I can see having nostalgia for the hacked version, but that is just too hacked for me to want to see more than one or two episodes.

If you guys are considering indie development, Xbox 360 is where you should focus your efforts. Xbox Live Arcade is already thriving, and Microsoft is supposedly bending over backwards to get the major developers to support the service... So I would imagine everyone gets a pretty good deal through it

The Revolution will have downloadable software too, but we're not sure exactly how it'll work or how successful that'll be... Plus the prohibitive Nintendo policies mentioned above. ~ ~

Okay, I ended up buying an RX from D-Lite. He shipped very quickly and packed the system quite safely.  :D

Nighty, I don't have time to reply to your post right now, but about dropping the ball on Exile 2.... That game had the worst collision detection of any game I've EVER played. The best example is when using the female knife-throwing character... My other major complaint (besides the difficulty at times) is you can never max out your health - build your EXP all the way to 65535 or whatever, and you will get nothing at all for it. That's a major oversight to me, even if it only affects the obsessive like myself. Anyway, I still enjoyed the game (and the voice generally rocked, though a little hammy) but it's the kind of game I wouldn't pay more than $20 for on Xbox or PS2 these days...
I'll write more later about WD. :)

Come on now. I haven't voiced any general hatred of Working Deisgns. Also, if you read the first post I made in the thread you are talking about, I mention how I think they may be OK in some ways and not ok in others. ~ ~

Well, why shouldn't I trust Falcom, if they made Ys? Or any original developer? If I like the game, do I need it to be improved? Why translate a game at all if its story isn't worth maintaining?
Like I said, when Working Designs tried to improve the games they released here through code changes (removing Easy mode, etc.), they usually harmed the game more than they helped it. How is trying to improve a script by writing something original or off-topic any different? Why must it be done? I'm not seeing it...

Thanks for noticing me, Guts. I did post a little bit at rec.games.video.sega several years ago - not very much, but a little.

Thing I've done that might be noteable to gamers:

-In the Sega Saturn days, I was an avid Net Link player. I won the NetLink Tournament for Saturn Bomberman, then proceeded to run the Top 50 ranking lists for most of the NL games. My avatar "eastman" can be seen chatting in a screenshot on the back of the NetLink 3.0 browser box.

-Wrote several reviews for Dave Z's Sega Saturn page
-Organized a tiny gaming convention in 1999, SegaCon
-Chatted frequently in GameFan magazine's IRC channel
-Wrote several FAQs at GameFAQs, mostly for Bomberman games
-Post regularly at GameFAQs and occasionally at CheapAssGamer.

Could it be any of those?

I'm looking to buy a Duo-RX system with its original controller...
I also need a good condition Sega Saturn (2nd model, with round buttons).

I have some items available for trade at http://www.gametz.com/user=eastx if you want to combine trade + cash.
PM me if you've got one.

Umm, Final Fight for Sega CD IS censored, just not as much as FInal Fight for Super Nintendo. The Super Famicom version of Final Fight and the Sega CD version are actually in-line female content-wise... The Mega CD version just had a little extra cheesecake to enjoy.

Also, FF for SNES IS a good game, despite its lack of 2-player and Guy. Final Fight Guy is nice (and uncensored, since it wasn't properly released in the US) but still doesn't have the Mega CD extra content or 2-player.

Final Fight One for GBA Japanese version is based on the Super Famicom game (with cool unique extras) and 2-player, while the US version is censored as the SNES version was.

Oh, and Dungeon Explorer 2 had some freaking awesome cinemas, music, and dubbing! But I never could beat it all the way through as the bard... He's just too weak.

I ordered PC Genjin for GameCube from http://www.yesasia.com and I am waiting for it to arrive. The GC version is rare will the PS2 version is common for some reason... Here's hoping Yes Asia actually can get it for 30 bucks like they say!

Star Soldier for GC/PS2 is EXCELLENT, even though it changes the gameplay a little. It even has a 3 and 5 minute Time Trial BUILT IN, which is a reference to the tournament version of Star Soldier for Famicom used by Takahashi Meijin in the Game King TV special. It also has vintage commercials featuring Takahashi (Master Higgins).
Also, there is an unlockable 3D Star Soldier stage (based on the remake) in Dream Mix TV: World Fighters for PS2/GC. Check out my FAQ at GameFAQs for details on that game.

Oh, and there's a nice, new Star Soldier remake for PSP in Japan, which you can play on American PSPs of course... Plus Star Soldier (Famicom version) is available by itself for GBA or in the Hudson Collection shooting game GBA cart. Don't have the latter, but I'll get it sometime.

Adventure Island for GameCube is SO much better than the original - it saves your stage, has an easy mode, nice graphics, and original or remixed sound... Plus vintage commercials. A Must-buy for Adventure Islands fans. So is Adventure Island Collection for GBA, which has all 4 Famicom games on 1 cart, available now.

Cubic Lode Runner isn't so much of a must-have as the other 4 PS2/GC Hudson Collection games since it's Lode Runner! Well, it has less added too... I mean, they changed the game up to make it 3D (but it works)... There seem to be some unlockables, but I don't have 'em. It's the most budget-looking of all 4 games, that's for sure.

I have to agree, Final Fight for Sega CD's music sucks compared to the SNES/arcade version's. Remixed is nice, but they are weeny remixes. Where's the nuts???

Riot Zone would have been a GREAT example of its genre were it 2-player. I too blame the lack of RAM for most of its shortcomings.
#18
I'd buy an S-video encoder. But what about component video???

Alls I remember is that the list owner was a royal jerk. He was so unfriendly and expected me to have all this technical knowledge about my email. Sure, he ran the list, but he didn't need to lord over it as he did. I do miss it though...

I think I tend to enjoy a more literal translation, but I want figurative language and such to be used so it isn't too dry or repetitive... Apparently the Japanese aren't too big on synonyms, now are they? Heh, J/K. But a translation going completely OT isn't the best way to spice up a game, either. A translated game should be fun in the way the developers intended. If the old game had a joke (that wouldn't make sense in English), then sure, we should get a different joke. But I think it should be the same kind of joke, capturing the original spirit.

If Working Designs did that, then they were awesome. My issues with them were their reprogrammings... Like removing the easy mode from Thunder Force 5. That's not good! Making Sillhouette Mirage harder, stealing experience in Lunar 2 for Sega CD when you save... No thank you! That really is messing with the creators' intent.
I think the real reason they failed is the insane collectors' editions and high price tags. If they'd just released the best games they could for $50, they would have done SO much better. Fanboys will bring in $, but not enough $... The proof is in the pudding.

As long as we're talking about voice acting in games besides Ys, Dungeon Explorer 2 had awesome voices that highly reminded me of Ys. Any of the same actors, I wonder?
