Kind of embarrassing that my copy has a xerox copy of the instructions (I think it was a former rental)

I'd like to purchase a few of these from eBay to have if and when I need to replace my laser in the Duo.  However i hear they have a high failure rate from the buyers (possibly buyers selling returned defective lasers as new).

Short of installing them in the duo and then taking them out again, is there any other way to know that you have a batch of "good" lasers to use in the future?

region mod & s-video come to mind as worthy additions.
Chop doesn't do mods to my knowledge...which is fine, I don't want anything "extra" done to the system. I think I'd rather get one of those converter cards if i ever have the hankering to play imports.

So i just sent off a perfectly working...but all original capped Duo to Chop5 for recapping.  It feels a little weird to do something like this as a preventative step, but everything I've read seems to indicate that eventually they all leak.  So I figured It'd be worthwhile to nip that in the bud.

I'm sure he'll do a great job making sure everything is in order, but is there anything else I should be having done while the hoods off?  I'm pretty sure the laser isn't worn out as the system has very little play time on it (although i guess it probably needs new grease).

Speaking of NEC stuff, is there anything long-term I should be looking out for with the PC-FX? I'd imagine it's also getting a little long in the tooth hardware wise and i have one in a box somewhere.

By the way nice to be on the forums...I'm slowly pulling out my old hardware in a bit of nostalgia.  Turbo Duo was at the top of the list to get back into tip-top shape.
