@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Quote from: thisIsLoneWolf on 10/23/2016, 12:35 PMI think a cheat code system would make a nice addition to the TED.
You mean apply patches on the fly of loading roms into memory?
I mean entering codes for things like infinite lives, extra health, etc. before you start a game. I think some other Ever Drives already have this feature. The TED is somewhat bare bones as far as EDs go.

Has anyone looked into updating the TED menu? How much effort is involved?

I think the TED is great and works well as is, but an updated graphical menu with more options might be fun.

As I recall, an updated menu was created for the Neo Flash in the days before TED.

Thanks for the link!

Is there an easy way to download the set?

I was searching on the web for the old Turbo Mailing List messages. It seems they're nowhere to be found.

Does anyone have an archive they can send me?

If you want to talk about impact, let's not forget that TurboGrafx CD introduced many North American gamers, to the idea of disc based games. An era that we're only now starting to move away from.

The Express showed us what portable games could be, with detailed games on high resolution color screens.

There were a lot of game culture firsts.

This is great. I had no idea there were so many spots to bust out the turbo.
#8
I used to do this with Final Lap Twin, way back in the day. During the races, you can hit select to shut off the music, but keep the sound effects. It works really well when listening to music on the TurboGrafx CD.
#9
I'll try to add something of a positive note, and say that I for one, enjoyed seeing these.
#10
I know there haven't been many Turbo-centric game cons, over the years. I'm wondering, what are some of the ones, with a larger Turbo presence?
#11
Great links guys. Gotta love the video clips of Bonk.

Welcome friend!

I take it you'll be looking to get your hands on Splatterhouse. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :)

Some good advice from the other members as well. You'll probably want to take a look at the game library, and then determine which formats you need to support.

If you only want to play hucards like Splatterhouse, you can probably get away with spending a fair bit less money.

Recently I came across a picture of a prototype version of bonk, picked up by a fellow forum member. The game is on one of those EPROM boards, but not like others I've seen on the web before.

It got me thinking about how even after all these years, it's so uncommon to see things like this for the turbografx. However, these types of items, seem to be all over the web (in relative abundance), for other similarly aged retro consoles.

Ideally, the shipped version of a game, is the one I want to play. Though, judging from old magazine screen shots, this may not always be true (*cough* Batman *cough*). Either way, I enjoy learning about how one of my favorite games, may have evolved. I realize this type of thing may not be for everyone. I for one, find it interesting, and enjoy hearing about these prototype versions of the games I've been playing for years now.

If anyone owns one, or has come across one, I'm sure some others here would also enjoy hearing about your discovery.

Can I vote for Final Lap Twin. Love me that RPG mode. Oh wait.. that's kind of cheating.
Davis Cup Tennis is pretty good.

On a side note, has anyone played much of Power Golf 2 (Japan release)? It looks pretty good, from what I've seen so far.

I'm glad you're enjoying the binder! Sweet pic BTW. Who doesn't love neon green. :)

Sparky, you are a charitable turbo beast!

Very cool of you to offer this up. Fortunately, I already have enough to game on, and besides, I'm still quite short on posts anyway (shh.. don't tell anyone).

Good luck to all those in the running!

I've been seeing some uncommon turbo related items lately. I'm talking about the orange duffle bag, the system carry case, and the neon gaming gloves. I'm loving these oddities.

What's your favorite piece of turbo swag, or rather, your most desired?

Quote from: Nulltard on 09/27/2015, 02:57 PMThere are 3 of them. I have them all, but only 2 issues have been scanned at mah webbersight.

Thanks for the link. I've been enjoying the scans on DoxPhile for a while now. Keep it up! :)

On a more disappointing note, it's too bad there's only 3 issues of these.
#20
Does anyone know, how many issues of Turbo Edge exist?

It seems to be a relatively lesser known magazine/newsletter, compared to the other turbo centric ones.

Furthermore, I'd love to see scans of these, if anyone would be so gracious.
#21
Some items still remaining. I'm hoping to clear them out soon. Anyone?
#22
Still a few items left. Shoot me an offer.
#23
Can anyone hook me up with one of these?
I can also use an AC adapter for the TG-16. :)

I've had many different pirate cards, but I don't think I've ever seen this one. Sweet find!  =D>

If anyone sees a price that seems out of whack, please let me know. I try to price everything fairly, but some things are hard to gauge, since they rarely show up.
#26
I think I have one of these I can sell you. What's a fair price for this? 20 bucks + shipping?

Hi Grandiloquence,

Welcome. I haven't been here very long myself yet, but I can share a few things I've already learned.

One. There are plenty of cool people here who will help feed your turbo addiction.
Two. Turrican't do much of anything. :)
#33
The thread about JJ & Jeff inspired me to start this one.

One of my favorite hucards has long been New Adventure Island (NAI). I absolutely love everything about this game, but even before that, I loved Super Adventure Island (SAI) for the SNES.

So I thought it would be fun to see which one people here prefer, and why.

I'll start off by saying that while I initially used to think it would be hard to dethrone SAI, it didn't take too long for me to prefer NAI. While the music and special effects in SAI could arguably be considered revolutionary for their time, I still prefer the level and graphic design of the Newer adventure. I don't want to undersell the catchy tunes either. New Adventure Island gets my vote.

So, are you a SAI guy or a NAI guy? :)
#34
Catching up on PMs now.
Thanks for all the interest everyone. You guys are awesome!

Ha! I guess you could say I've been living the turbo life a long time.
I may have a couple extra games around here. :) Anything specific you're after?

Quote from: guest on 05/26/2015, 07:23 PMI'm interested in the mug! Especially since my desk is lacking a DoxPhile branded mug.

Also the shirt, depending on the size of course.
Man, you're quick on the trigger. Thanks for the very quick reply!

I think I may have a few different mugs. I'll PM you once I've checked them, and same goes for the t-shirt (which I forgot to mention is Splatterhouse themed). I need to confirm, but I believe the t-shirt is XL, and it's not been worn. You can have it for 25.

I'll also give you 5 bucks off because you're the quickest draw in the turbo wild west.  =D>

Quote from: guest on 05/23/2015, 08:06 PMValis III is my favorite and really perfected the overall balance of what makes a Valis game signature "Valis". The Genesis version is also great and more polished for what is intact. I'm always surprised when people complain about the water stage, because that was where the game fully won me over and I always think back about that as one of the funnest sections.
I agree 100% about it being a defining moment. :)

I always felt that the graphics of that level were friggin' sweet, too. It just had a great atmosphere and looked impressive... Combined with the platforming skills required, it was a defining moment.

:)
Agreed. The graphics on the water level are sweet. It appears in Valis IV too.
Turrican't do this! :)

As it turns out, I had some luck with a local sale.

So what I still have available is the following 259 titles.

Again, all are brand new and factory sealed, and I'm looking to sell the remainder as a set (or possibly a few large chunks, depending on interest).

For all 259 titles, I would accept 3800 US, which I think (I hope you'll agree) is a pretty good price. This comes to an average of only just under 15 dollars per game. Admittedly, I'm not an everyday seller. So I appreciate your feedback on pricing, and whether this sound like a fair or even a good offer. Thanks guys.

I like that they chose to do it this way. I prefer the cables coming out the back.

One more question. To manage save games, do you need a system card? It has no built-in software for this purpose, right?
#42
I'm hoping one of you fine folks can help me locate a turbo booster plus.
It doesn't need to be complete or have the box, so long as the actual unit is in nice shape.

I know these are hard to come by, so I'm not really sure what they're worth. I can offer cash or trade.

There is one thing I've been wondering about this unit though. Does the AC adapter power wire still connect the same way, when the booster is attached?
