For 6 button: duo-rx pad, for 2 button I actually like the battle pad most of the controllers I've tried.  It's ugly as hell but it's a bit wider and allows a more comfortable grip.

I love my Duo-RX controllers, it has a more ergonomic shape and feels really nice.  The D-pad is larger and is sloped inward, the buttons have a much smoother feel to them.  I'd say $30 is a very good deal for one of them, considering I paid $45 for my 2nd one (I liked it that much ).  Here's some pics of one of mine:

Buy one of D-lite's modded Pce Duo's they're only $170, plays both US and jap hucards and of course cds.  It's one of the cheapest overall options and they work great!  His site is: www.multimods.com

It reminds me of more like a snes controller but even nicer, the buttons on it even remind me of the buttons on my dreamcast controller.  It makes you hold it a little different but it is definately the most comfortable; now I don't have to switch between my 2 button and 6 button pad heh.  Here's some pics:
