I'll try to clean the flux off first and let you guys know if it helped. If that doesn't work out I'm gonna remove all the soldering and try to get the signal from the source. Should I leave that mess at the bottom left like it is? I really don't have a clue what the modder tried to accomplish there.

With RF still the same problem (or even worse actually probably due to NTSC-J signal?).

I'm using the composite mod.

I'm using this power supply (the EU version):

i just tested with another power supply, something like this:

Unfortunately still giving the same result.

I'm gonna look for someone in Europe (I'm from Belgium) who can fix it, but I think it's going to be hard to find someone. Anyone here who can make me an offer?

@thesteve: I'm using a 9V DC power suppply (actually it's the one from my Roland SPD-S which also works on my SMS & SMD). Do you mean the previous owner toasted it with using the wrong power supply?

Sorry for bringing up my old topic again, but I still haven't figured out what's going wrong.

I checked for loose connections and bad soldering joints but haven't found any. I rechecked again today (after many years) because after moving to my new place I opened my boxes with retro gaming systems again.

Here's the result when I power on my PC Engine with the great Jackie Chan:
Here's a picture of the inside of this little broken marvel:

Hoping I can still fix it...

Thanks!

PS I didn't do this mod myself. I bought the console this way at gamedoctorHK.

Great news! I used to read some French videogame magazines when I was a kid (Consoles+ & Joypad if I remember well?).
Donc je pourrai améliorer mon Français de nouveau :)

Hey guys,

I have a PC Engine with composite AV mod. I haven't been playing for a while but today my fingers were itching again so I connected it again.
Unfortunately the picture is pretty distorted with horizontal distorted lines scrolling up all the time. It seems to be less but not gone while there's no audio, like after the title screen music.

I really don't know what's happening because it used to work. I'm using the same TV as before, tried other cables already.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out here..

Thanks!

Look, it sold for 56 euro, which is really way too much for a bootleg. These guys are selling it as a real copy and I almost fell for it. It's surely not a bad thing to notify people I guess. (especially if it's in Frech-who can translate that-honestly?)

This one roughly says that this is no bootleg. I was bidding on it but luckily i noticed soon enough to stop bidding.

What do you guys think?

I received my PC Engine with AV mod this week from Hong Kong.
Now, it's working fine on my big JVC tv, but the smaller (and newer) tv where I was planning to use it displays all the games in black and white.
Anyone have experience with Pal boosters? (analogue NTSC-->PAL converters) http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-2q-49-en-15-pal-70-1au.html
I really don't want to open the machine as I have no experience whatsoever with modding consoles.

Thanks very mucho!

thanks for all the replies! :)
Gonna buy a pc engine + tv then  :P

Do you guys think that something like a "pal booster" could solve my problem?
http://www.hotbit.nl/product_photo.php?products_id=120&pic=2

And how about the 60 Hz-50 Hz problem?
When i put my PS2 games in 60Hz mode the image starts scrolling.
Probably i gotta buy a new tv just to be able to play lol

It's a JVC widescreen from '96 with 2 scart and 1 AV input.
I also have a small (cheap) tv from 2004. It has only 1 scart input. I have an adapter from my PS1 where you can put the AV cable and then connect it to the scart. Do you think it will work this way?
thanks for the fast replies! :)

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here who wants to buy a Jap Pc Engine or Coregrafx, maybe with cd-rom. (finally!)
The only thing i'm not sure about is how to connect this machine to my PAL tv. I've been looking around in this forum but i can't find the answer.
I know I can connect the coregrafx (the one with AV output) to the scart input of my tv, but i'm not so sure if i will get colours on screen.
For my PAL Playstation i had to get an RGB cable to play the JAP imports in full colour so i'm afraid i'll have this problem with the PC Engine, but then no solution because it doesn't have an RGB output.

THanks in advance for the help!
