It's been 4 years since I last posted! I found a lot of turbo stuff over those years but this year has been the best! In July I got a turbo duo with 3 in 1 and YS. I traded for it https://imgur.com/gallery/GVNjOCp the first picture is what I gave  the guy. I only had $110 into the stuff so it was an amazing deal.

The system doesn't need a recap I got it checked out it was barley ever used. I was told to wait until the caps start to go. Two weeks ago I had a PSX posted online  someone messaged me and told me he wants it but has to sell his turbo collection for it. So before he sold them I told him we could do a trade so I traded him the psx and a copy of vanark for ps1 for .... all these games! https://imgur.com/gallery/IL64ThZ I only had $110 into the psx and vanark. Just ordered bonk 3 and Dracula X thanks Bernie I usually don't like reproductions but for the price unlike the ones on FB that are charging $25-50 each I can so $5 each I even donated some extra !

So I was on my local CL found a guy selling a turbo with the box my area is full of resellers and collectors  I was very surprised it wasn't taken  , I texted him , we talked and he wanted to trade a few things , so I met him close by my house , he use to live a block and half from me I found out but moved , He told his aunt friend gave him the turbo for free a few months ago at a garage sale , and he only wanted $80 for it  (he listed it as 200 but we talked for a hour) and got this beauty .  That came with all the inserts and even the comic in Keith Courage , the Bonk box still had the free sticker so does the box! so I put my copy of bonk in the box and completed it ! I haven't seen one like this on ebay yet . I been lucky with my tubo finds! I also got a toploader and a genesis in box along with other fun stuff ! This box even had the REG card! which I know is rare to find .

my friend is a bigger collector then most people , I kept all of his stuff , and sold my old stuff . Since his is much in better condition , He sold his neo geo collection for 380ish to a local video game store . He has ebay , but has no time to list , I even offered to list for him  , but he didn't want to wait , he told me the price , He encouraged me to sell , I can get you all screen caps if you don't believe me.

My friend told me he needs money , he invites me over , he had a lot of other stuff , like a neo geo pocket with over 20 games which I got also , but he had turbo games .... All but bomberman , bonk's adventure , alien crush , galaga . Keith courage , and blazing lasers (I had those already) ... He even gave me a system with an original power cable , a turbo booster plus , a turbo stick , a turbo tap  , and 4 controllers ... I paid about $100 for all the turbo stuff (he told the price didn't have to haggle)  Man I'm In Turbo Heaven . He even threw in a cd card , the import converter and the PC Engine 3.0 card .

I enjoy to go to flea markets, yard sales,and various local retro video game stores. They never seem to have any turbografx 16 or cd games. Do you find these often? The only time I ever found them once at a flea market. I bought the turbografx 16 console (without any controllers or cords), china warrior, and world class baseball.  The one local shop I go to had a few common games that he was charging 20x their value for. Has anyone had any luck? I have to get most of my stuff through message boards or ebay.

Honestly Three Times , First Was a Keith courage at a fleamarket before I collected turbo and I got it , aftet that none at any fleamarket , two game stores by me have turbo stuff but for ebay's prices . But I found a turbo 16 with a booster plus in the wild from a re-seller who didn't know the booster plus was an attachment  I gave him castlevania 4 smash bros and a super scope in box for it , then I found an express last week while in a FB group searching for turbo stuff . Other then that no , and I never plan on finding anything over here unless it's through facebook .

Does anyone know what the distribution of NEC products was in North America? Weren't the majority of US sales in the NYC metropolis?

Turbobs were rare here when I was a kid and they're rare now.

Today someone on facebook messaged me , and told me he had a turbo express with the strap (needs a sound recap) but the screen is beautiful , told me 100$ and it's mine , and that he will include the Tuner and Bonk's adventure then he had Lynx which i got also  (with a bunch of other stuff for 150$ more) pretty cool day!

These never come up in my area it's rare enough to find one for 100$ .

This is the case basically everywhere. The Duo, the US CD add-on and Express in particular were not big sellers in terms of volume and weren't commonly found used and cheap in the wild in the first place. The best way to get them cheap was to find dead units some years ago and have them repaired or use the repair information found on this forum to fix them yourself.

At this point everyone is aware of how to fix them and lots of people who seemingly had no interest in the platform for the 20+ years systems and games were on the market suddenly became interested because resellers are making quite a profit flipping stuff. It's an unfortunate state of affairs but if you're looking for the US hardware besides the standard TurboGrafx 16 system you're probably going to have to go to the internet and pay internet prices for it.

You know there's more to the internet than just eBay, right?  Even if you shop on eBay, you don't have to buy BINs that have been sitting there for months.

no one in my area has anything , only a game store that wants a lot for an express .... I live close to NYC so you would think they would be a lot here ... other then my system I haven't found anything else , and I don't want to pay over 700$ to get a Duo , Express , and CD , i'm even offering to pay 120$-180 for an express ... it's all nintendo over here , and even that is getting pricey .

Grats, welcome to the forums. Turbo booster plus is cool , but you will soon find it sitting on a shelf once you get the cd & dock setup!

True... unless he is like me and uses his Turbo without purchasing a CD unit for years. I never got around to buying a CD system because of how expensive they are, but I eventually fell into finding one and like OP made a trade that I couldn't pass up.

CD I will get but I rather get a duo , if I can find one for under 400$ lol

You mentioned that you 'always wanted one.' What was your experience with the TG-16 prior to buying it?

Bonk I knew for years , before I even started collecting I always wanted to play a bonk game as a kid , always found him to be cool , I was a fan of Hudson for a while because of the mario party games , bomber man games ,  and the other games they made for nintendo and Sony , in the summer I met this guy at the fleamarket and he was telling me about the turbo grafx I had heard of it but never knew that much about it , I did my research and I was amazed by it . The card format alone still amazes me ,  so in July I started looking for one for the right price , then I finally found one , but yeah it's pretty cool . I like it better then the SNES & Genesis honestly .

Welcome!  Once you start doing research on games for the TG you'll find either investing in a CD attachment or buying a DUO will become mandatory.  Grab a Turbo Ever drive (it has a built in region switch) or emulate to try out games before purchasing.  As with any other systems there are great ones and there are stinkers.  Many stinkers are commanding big dollars so do your research.

Since you mentioned Nintendoage I have to ask this question.  How do you feel about VGA grading?

I don't do VGA , I don't like them , I am a collector but I like collecting items I can use , all my systems are loose or complete because of that , and my games are complete or loose  also sealed items I trade or sell off .

I want to introduce my self my name is AJ , I collect all games and systems , I have SNES Kiosk , 4 limited n64s , a virtual boy , and a lot more , last month I came across a CL post for a turbo , I didn't realized what it was attached to the back of it so I left it alone , until the guy said he would trade me for some nintendo stuff I have him as copy of super smash 64 , a boxed super scope (no Styrofoam , and no inserts) , and copy of super castlevania 4 ,before hand I posted his ad to a trading/sell page a guy told me to hurry take it down and get to the guy asap , why did he say that ? The system had a turbo booster plus included the guy thought it came with the system , remember I paid only around 7$ for the three games I traded him , so I quickly went and got it  , it does have some deep scratches on the booster and about three on the system but I could careless , I won't ever again see on locally with the booster plus or even on ebay for for so cheep , now I am looking for an adaptor to play imports and then I will import games , but yeah I always wanted to own one , as soon as I found out about it , I had dreams of finding one , well so dreams do come true . My Friend Then For X-Mas Got Me A Turbo Pad . Now I'm just looking for games ! I Am On Nintendo Age as xasapxajx if anyone is from there on here !
