12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

as said before, the everdrive will allow you to play any region games on your system with no problem.  just make sure when you get the everdrive that you flip the switch to PCE as if it's on TG16, it will not work.

Thought they were silver, but might be  light green. I'm colorblind, so I might not see them quite right.

Quote from: Keith Courage on 05/01/2016, 05:48 AMYou said that you are using silver bottom CDs? Generally verbatim discs have light green bottoms. I find that I've had best results by using regular Sony or TDK discs. Just the regular light green bottom ones you can buy at a store. I've never had good luck with expensive CD-R discs at all.

I, unfortunately, don't have a ton of money to spend on games.  the money I make goes to other "adult" things that I have a little to spend on fun things.  If I didn't burn them or have my everdrive I would probably have about 4 games for the system.  With the prices of hucards and cd games going up for those that got into the system late it is very hard to get legit copies.  I know burning games is illegal, but at the same time I the companies are not making money on them anymore it's just the ebay people that put them up for ridiculous prices.

Interested in playing new games.  Interested in downloading the games, if free, and possibly buying some.  Do developers have their own websites or how do we find them?

I've seen 1 place that has homebrew games (aetherbyte) but are there others out there?  I like to see the new stuff coming out for the older systems.  I am definitely going to get Insanity at some point.  Looks like a lot of fun.

When I tried to burn at 1X it refused to do that and burned at 16X.  Guess I just need to find a REALLY OLD cd burner.

If you try to force burn speed slower than it's rated for, it may not work well.[/quote]

700MB 52X speed is about all I can find online for CD-R's.  I believe they used to be 640MB when the system came out.  Not sure if that's an isue or not, but then again, not sure where you would find anything but 700 MB.  Might try some memorex if I can find them around here just to see if they work better.

I've read a few things on here about CDR's and have got nothing but confused.  I just got my duo system from KC yesterday and I had some games burned that I was playing on ootake.  No issues with ootake, however on the system itself the music stops.. sometimes.  Interestingly enough, the last time I played and the longest I survived in Star Parodier the CD music never stopped.  I burned them on Verbatum CD's and the burner I have refuses to burn less than 10X.  They are silver bottom.  First question is does CD-R's really hurt the system?  I've had conflicting yes and no's even on here.  Secondly, are there better CDR's to burn with than others?  I have heard silver is best, light green is best, don't use green, just about everything you can imagine.  I want to keep my system working for many years to come, but can't afford all the games I want the way prices are soaring.

Thank you

Received my duo yesterday from KC and played it all night.  Picture and sound is great with CD's and Hue Cards even with the regular composite out. System looks and plays great.  Highly recommend KC for the systems!

I've noticed when playing shmups that I am 1000X better at vertical than horizontal.  Does anyone else have the same experience or are you all equal at them?

For some reason never thought of just buying a pce tap and swapping it.  It's cheaper than cables for some reason.  Is ebay the best place to get taps?  also since i will be running a tap with US outs, what cable do I need to use a PCE controller if I want 3 people to play since I have 2 us controllers already
#12
how easy is it to do?  As sad above if one of those cables from PCE to Turbo would work I would just use it and buy a TG to PCE cable for the 1 PCE controller I would have, but if it won't and I get a cable and have to move all those wires, is it easy to do, and again buy a TG to PCE cable,  or am I better off biting the bullet and buying a PCE tap, and 2 PCE to TG16 converters for my 2 pads I own, which would be the most expensive option of the 3.
#14
I currently have a TG 16 with a turbo tap and 2 controllers.  I plan on getting a PCE duo system from keith courage on here.  My question is can I use my turbo tap with the PC engine duo system using the converters I see online?  Also, since it comes with 1 controller I will use that unless I have people over, if I need 3 controllers can I then convert turbo to pce from the tap?  I just would like to avoid having to buy a PCE tap and controllers if I can just use what I own.  Much cheaper this way!
#15
Am I seeing the price correctly. $300 - $400 for one of those?
#16
TV sort of plays the turbo on my plasma.  I say sort of as I have picture but it flickers A LOT when I plug the yellow into the green input on the TV.  I'm guessing this is telling me that it is not going to work real well.  Also, not sure how many TV's in future will support this.  What is another option or I can just stick with the stock composite video for now.  I know not the best but it might be my only option.
#17
so I want to connect it to either my plasma TV or my stereo that upconverts.  I guess I'm asking which mod I would request he would do.

Looking at using part of my tax refund, if the wife will let me, to buy a cd unit from Keith Courage.  I'm leaning toward the duo unit instead of the briefcase since it is only $10 more and if I would decide I want arcade card it is cheaper.  I see that he does mods on the units and am confused.  I thought that component and RGB were the same thing. Can someone explain if it is different?

Also with these systems, more than likely most games will be burned, since it is hard to find real copies of these at decent prices since ebay is so high anymore, to play on it.  I have a sega CD system that plays the discs well and this is from the same time frame, how does it do with burned cd's?

Thanks for all the responses, I am filing soon and hopefully the wife will let me use some of my refund for this.  lol

I saw that the turbo everdrive v2 is out of I called the local place that sells everdrive. I asked if they had them and they do but can't get them to work with their memory cards. They have tried several brands it no luck. Anyone have a v2 the is working? If so, what brand you using?
#20
Please enter me.  I plan on getting a PC Engine duo as soon as I have enough money.   Would be a nice game to have
#21
Anyone hear of any updates on the release date for the everdrive v 2?  I am hoping it is sooner then later because I want to play all my turbo games that I have on my computer because I can't afford US versions of games.  Once I have the ED, then I will save up for a Duo or Duo-R system.
#22
I'm guessing the main reason prices are higher on this system then others is that it never caught on in the US so supply is probably not real high.  I have noticed though that overall vintage games are going up.  I see the original zelda going for $30 on neS which I bought for maybe 10 about 10 years ago and conquer for the n64 I bought for 10 or 15 and I've seen it go for 50 or so.  I think a lot of us that had the games when we were younger are now getting back into the systems causing the prices to go up.  I have never had a TG16 and it is one of my last "affordable" consoles on my list to get.
#23
To me, 30 is a lot of money for a shooter, especially when the everdrive is 80.  I just wish there was a place where the everdrive was sold with a case on it.  i see stoneage gamer has one, but I don't need case and all that other crap that makes it double the price.  I just want the cartridge with some protection for the pieces that make it work.
#24
I was wondering where you can find TG16 games at a decent price online?  Ebay is rediculous price in my opinion, granted I don't know how much a game is for the system since I am new to it.  I just want a few shooter games to tide me over til I can get an everdrive.

I know that the US controllers and the Japanese controllers do not fit each other.  From what I understand, you can find a converter so that you can use them on the other system.  Is this true? Also if this is true, can you use the converter on the turbo tap and use all US controllers on a Japanese system?  Reason I am asking is this.   Local Craigslist offer for a TG6, turbo tap, 2 controllers, 9 games (Keith Courage, final lap twin, world class baseball, dungeon explorer, victory run, takin it to the hoop, tv sports football, alien crush, and power golf) and all cords to hook it up.  Started the price about a month ago at 175, now down to 150.  if they go lower, around 125 or so, it will be hard to not get and if I can use the controllers and tap on a japanese duo unit then I will be saving some money in the long run trying to find a tap and 2nd controller.
#26
I could care less about a box.  I just want a system that i can play.  Where would be the best place to get a "recapped" duo?
#27
I have done a lot of research on this.  I was going to get a US TG-16 unit only, but then I saw if I wanted anything but RF out I would need an upgrade and those can be expensive.  I then thought ok, coregrafx system but then saw some CD games that look great.  Did research and from all I hear the US duo's are not good.  Japanese Duo's are OK, the -r are great and the -rx are basically -r's with an x after it.  Reliability is obviously #1 on this large of an investment.  that combined with how few US games compared to Japanese games makes me want  the Japanese version.  Not sure how many games do not have English in them at all and are thus unplayable.  Also from what I understand the CD unit/duo units have a save for your games that have save capability and if I would go TG16, I would need an extra thing for that too.  Now, to find a Duo-R system for a decent price.  something tells me I should have looked for these years ago and they would have been cheaper.
#28
so you have to buy the arcade card separately, correct?  I have seen a list of the arcade and there are not a ton of games for it and, if I remember correctly, isn't the arcade card rather expensive?   I am just going to get a start and probably a duo-r would be best from my research, just a matter of where to get one.  Then I can buy an everdrive and eventually the arcade.

I collect systems and have been using an emulator for some games on the system and love them and would like to purchase a system so that I can have a real one and some games.  I have put up a topin on the atari age forums and was told about this site.  So for my first post here, what is the best setup for games on this system. I do know that I want Cd and Hue card capability as I love shooters and have watched videos of some of them on the CD unit and they look great.  I know you can get a coregrafx and cd add on, or you can get a duo or a duo-r, duo-rx and am very confused.  I plan on getting the system, getting some games and then purchasing an everdrive as I have looked on ebay at the price of games and I don't have that type of money.  I have read different articles about the systems and while it helped... still confusing with this system so anything will help me out.  Plus it would be nice to know how much I am looking at spending on a system, multi tap, 2nd controller, and a few games.

Thank you!
