@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Is there anything I can tell my friend since he is considering getting a Turbo? I don't really have any advice on what to pay or what not to pay. What would you tell someone if they were interested in buying a system?

Quote from: guest on 12/02/2015, 07:19 PMDang, ShadowKitty, very generous of you! +2 TurboKarma! No need to sign me up.  Hope to see you at the next MCG!
I'm def gonna be there, it's only a 3hr drive for me. Plus the last one was really fun. Really glad I found out about these forums.

Quote from: guest on 12/02/2015, 11:05 AMCan I toss my Hatris in the ring for just Gai Flame?  If I win, I'll gladly pay shipping for Youkai to go to the next guy/gal in line.

I'm thankful for friends, family, obey, good health, and being gainfully employed with enough monies to live comfortably.
Yeah! I'm cool with that if you win. :)

Still a few more days for everyone to enter. (I have a Dark Souls PS3 game up for raffle in the console section too. If you have a PS3 and you haven't played it yet, you should enter.

I'm thankful for everyone entering (I'm not actually entering, but I'm glad to see so much interest)

I was gonna make a new topic, but I figured this classified as noob
Too late, you just blew it. Should have just shut up already.

If you want to have a raffle - just do it!!!!  You are the one giving something away, so for that ONE thread, you are in charge and you get to make the rules.
LOL   :-#
Can I post them in any thread? (as long as it's related) also is it ok to raffle non-turbo items as long as its games? If so where should I post those?
For a raffle, always create a new thread in the relevant sales forum - TG16 raffles in the TG16 sales forum, etc.  If they are non turbo, then put em in the "Console Sales" forum.
Perfect, thank you~ I'll def put some up stuff up this weekend then.

Quote from: Otaking on 04/07/2013, 02:37 PMI'd be interested in how many forum members first played the PC Engine/TurboGrafx after the era it was released.
 :D

Personally I played it around the time it was released and through the console's life cycle and I bought most of the games (all the big ones) back when they were first released too.
A massive part of my interest in the system is purley nostalgia of this time.
I didn't get to play turbo until psone era. I only knew about Nintendo and Sega when it came out.
#16
I would recommend checking out One Punch Man if you haven't already.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 10/10/2015, 10:15 PMI saw Frozen. It was slightly above average. I don't hate it or anything, but I do have trouble understanding its popularity. I bet the boys in Disney's top secret audience pacification institute have some good data on this, but they probably didn't expect this level of popularity either.
Yeah I agree that Disney def had some analysts in on this one. I think most of the popularity/hype comes from the fact that it had a lot of "progressive" themes that has become really popular in social media right now. I'm not saying it's bad for it, but it is just why I think everyone is making it seem like it's a special snowflake.
I enjoyed the movie though.

Quote from: Bernie on 10/20/2015, 05:50 PMJason, get with fellow member Keith Courage.  He usually has systems on hand, already refurbished.  :)
He did an excellent job fixing mine, and returned it at sonic speed. Would def recommend.

It's weird I have a mix. Most of my irl friends like Majors already know that turbo is where it's at. Those friends were the ones that showed me the turbo years ago when I only had an NES, SNES, and Genesis as a kid. (well technically I had an Odyssey 2 and Atari 2600 first, but still)
It was like an awesome treasure trove of untapped awesomeness I'm still discovering. Even with the nostalgia factor for my old systems it seems weird to me that anyone with half a brain would snub the turbo.....

However, most of the people I've run into on gaming forums and social media are younger and they are all Nintendtards that think the N64 is a retro system, and don't really play anything older. Their mentality can be a little tiring.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 07/31/2015, 07:12 PMThe Macross movie was released in BR a couple of years ago. Quality is very good, but it is censored slightly, only a few frames, but it is censored. It comes with a PS3 game, Flashback 2012, and a ton of printed material. It's like $150-200, IIRC.

I'm sure someone has fansubbed it by now.
That Japanese BR is really nice, and game is decent too. It sucks that it's censored, but at least its minimal.

Holy shit this is super interesting, but it's a lot to take in. Is there a cliff's note's version?

I did notice that Drac-X thing. I actually had it shared to me, which is why I popped on the forums to see what you guys were saying about it.
#22
Sorta only vaguely related, but because of a promotion for that movie they brought Steve Weibe out to a big tourist mall to play Donkey Kong. It was pretty cool to see him play live. They also had some cabs set up with DK and some other retro games for people to play.

I hope you're just showing your rarez and not the complete collection, else your priorities are all fucked up.
O.O Is that cause they are odd first choices? lol I'm assuming they are all rare or expensive? (I don't buy Turbo on Ebay, just from MadGear usually)

You guys have really awesome collections. I usually have to go to cons to play some of those titles.

This is so upsetting....
I had to show this to a friend of mine because I have been trying to talk her out of spending 100+ for Rule of Rose on PS2. For some reason that game just keeps going up in price, and it used to be everywhere. Every time I see it now, they want more for it.

That's because Carmack was a decent guy who kept of doing good stuff ... and Romero was a self-promoting ass who thought that he was god's gift to gaming, left ID, and then went on to prove project after project that he was just an idiot that got very lucky the first time.

I know this it might be blasphemy since it's not on turbo, but psn has some digital turbo games on sale for 1.20usd. I will prolly pick them up myself even the one's I own already since it would be cool to have them on my Vita.

Dungeon Explorer - $1.20 - 80% Off
New Adventure Island - $1.20 - 80% Off

I really like Cotton and Sexy Parodius Best!
Fantasy Zone and Twin Bee in second.

I think these count, but for next gen I like Muchi Muchi Pork, Death Smiles (1) and Mushihimesama Futari quite a bit.

Between 1 and 4 on the PC Engine for me.

Quote from: guest on 06/22/2015, 12:17 AMEven if you have a raging tard-boner for the shitty NES one, at first glance, MG2: Solid Snake is 100% more fuck-yeah inducing than NES Metal Gear will ever be.

Quote from: ShadowKitty777 on 06/13/2015, 10:50 AMI agree. I would also say Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake (also on those collections) Is worth checking out, more-so than 1 actually.
It's a newer and more polished game. But for those of us who grew up in the US and played the NES original this isn't as easy of a pick over the original.
Really? o.o
(I grew up in the US and played the NES one when it came out as well, still have my complete copy)
I could see the appeal for the nostalgia factor on the NES one, but those MSX versions were pretty spiffy in my personal opinion. Enough so that I actually sealed up my copies of the original, and put them on my Metal Gear Collection shelf.
#39
I have way too many to list, Alien, Aliens, Tron, Ghost in the Shell.....
I'm gonna have to add Mad Max Fury Road to that list since I've already been to the theaters to see it twice.

Quote from: VenomMacbeth on 06/11/2015, 10:29 AMJust watched Paprika the other night.  What an awesome movie, way better than Inception.
Awesome movie. Have you seen Perfect Blue? (Same director)

@ the mention of Kill la Kill I really like that series, it's pretty fun to watch. It's like a parody of action animes, yet a pretty entertaining action anime at the same time.

After seeing the new Mad Max for the 2nd time, I want to re-watch Fist of the North Star again.

There's not a lot of Kid Icarus or Punch-Out merchandise and they'd just be cool to have.
Yeah, same here. I have a few Punch-Out items, and I thought it would be cool to have the Lil Mac one. Boy was I disappointed.....

Welcome!
I used to live in NC (Durham area). Was just there not too long ago.

Most new anime is crap, but Parasyte the Maxim was pretty good. I highly recommend. Kinda funny to me one of the only newer animes worth watching right now is based off an older manga (originally published in the late 80's-90's)

(Also Resident 4 completely ripped a lot of designs from this series, which was pretty interesting)
#47
As soon as I saw the episode I had to see if a thread had been made here. I figured these forums were on top of it. I liked how he said the system didn't have as many turds on it. (I'm paraphrasing)

Did you give it a proper burial?
lol
I used to really love my Dreamcast.... If it wasn't for a few a handful of games that haven't (and prolly won't) get the re-release or HD treatment... I swear I would give up on the 'ol gal, but I just can't. (I just found scraps and someone to fix her)
QuoteHas your tubro duo been recapped?  That may be the issue with that one if it hasn't.  Since you don't seem to care much about that one, you could try to swap the laser lens assemblies between the two consoles.  The RX may have a bad one and the one in the turbo duo may still be ok.  It is pretty easy to do, but you might not want to do it which is understandable.  If not i'm sure someone will fix them both for you.
Not that I'm aware of.

Update: I got three offers so far. I hope no one gets upset if I don't pick them. @-@ I've went from having no idea how to fix my boys, to having tons of options. Seriously thank you guys.
