10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

My 11 year old daughter and I have bonded by playing our TG-16 together.  She absolutely loves the Bonk series and is quite good at it.  The TG-16 library holds her attention, while the SNES, Genesis, and the N64 do not come close.  Does anyone agree with me that the TG-16 has a unique magic about it that makes it the best family system.

i have a tg-16 with a few scratches on it, but working perfectly, with controller, in box with the paperwork.  just wondering if i were to list it on ebay, what i could expect to get for it.  not looking to gouge anybody at all, just a fair price.  thanks.

Spooky,

Genji Tsuushin Agedama was on my list at first, because I thought it was a platformer, but when I played it and realized that you are in perpetual motion, and shooting constantly, I decided to classify it as a Shmup and took it off my list.

Fushigi no Yume no Alice is a great game for my 10 year old daughter.

Thanks Spooky, and everybody who responded to this thread!

I was going to but I just got it : )

Ok, I had a perfectly good tg-16.  A little scratched maybe, but perfectly good.  Today I saw an almost mint in box tg-16 for sale on craigslist.  No price listed.  Had to have it, called the guy, he wanted $120 - fine.  Now I've got 2.  Is there something wrong with me?

Quote from: SuperGrafx on 07/12/2015, 05:15 PMWhy aren't the Legendary Axe games on this list???
Because they exist for the tg16, I was just looking for games not available on the turbografx

Ok, we all know the Shmups on the pcengine are top notch, but I wanted to find some hucard based platformers, that are not available on the turbografx.

I welcome your comments, as I am very new to this system.  By the way, if any of these are available on the tg-16, I would love to know the US title.

In no particular order:

Busou Keiji - Cyber Cross
City Hunter
Cross Wiber - Cyber Combat Police
Dragon Egg!
Fushigi no Yume no Alice
Jigoku Meguri
Juuouki - Altered Beast
Maerchen Maze
Ninja Ryuuken Den - Ninja Gaiden
The Ninja Warriors
Obocchama-kun
Rastan Saga II
Son Son II
Toshi Tensou Keikaku - Eternal City
Youkai Douchuuki

I went to Einstein bagels today which I frequently go to.  Out of the blue, the manager asked me if I play video games.  I told him I play retro/vintage video games only.  I told him I have an Atari 8 bit and Apple II computer which I play games on.  Then I asked him if he has ever heard of the Turbografx-16?

He says are you kidding, I talked my parents into getting me the TurboDuo when I was a kid!  He then mentioned a handful of games he remembers having such as Valis.  We went back and forth naming off great games for the TG-16.  That was the highlight of my day today.  When I go back, I will probably talk to him some more about his TurboDuo.

I considered taking it apart to see what I could possibly fix, but instead I emailed Lukie Games and they sent a RMA right away!

Update:  The Turbo Stick I just got, and barely used, is now broken.  I can not go left in any game.  The turbo pad works fine, so I believe its the Turbo Stick.  I tried all the usual remedies.  Bummer.

I am familiar with the X-Arcade Solo, which I use with MAME, The Atari CX40's that I use with my 600XL, and the CH Products Mach III that I use with my Apple IIe.  As far as my opinion of the Turbo Stick, too early to tell, I only used it for a few minutes today.  But I am hoping it will reduce the strain on my fingers I experience sometimes with the pad.

My turbo stick arrived in the mail today and it looks brand new!  I am getting ready to do some serious gaming now that I have it and the everdrive!  Since I have only been a tg-16 owner for less than a month, I was wondering how the folks here on the forum feel about the Turbo Stick, is it a necessity,  is it a luxury item, or do you not really need it?  Thanks for sharing.

So far everything I have tried to run on it runs perfectly.  I have been playing Cratermaze & got up to level 13.

If I can pick up a SNES mini for $80 on Craigslist I will buy another everdrive for that system too.

the turbo everdrive arrived yesterday.  what an amazing library of games this system has.  thanks for all the recommendations everyone.

My TG-16 arrived today and it works!  So I want to buy the Everdrive.  Any suggestions where I should purchase from, since I live in the US?  I would like to receive it as quickly as possible.  Stone Age Gamer seems to be located in OH, and krikzz.com, who is probably the manufacturer, seems to be out of the Country?  Thanks again for the assistance.

Thanks for the welcome.  RPG's? No, I only had a few carts for the SNES and my favorite was Prince of Persia.

I am not a big fan of CD or DVD based systems for whatever reason.  I hate scratches  8-[

I am not an airsofter, but I made up the name "airsoftmodels" one day, and got a gmail account with it, the name kind of stuck.

I will definitely get the Everdrive, as soon as I verify my system works.  I will probably get the Core Grafx system as well to play all the great Japanese Shmups.

hello everyone, i am new here.  i just bought a tg-16 on ebay which will arrive in about a week.  i plan to pick up some games, and maybe even the everdrive.  i didn't have a tg-16 in the 90's, i had a SNES.  i finally realized what a gem the tg-16 system is.  this is a massive forum with tons of great info, so i plan to pore over it as soon as i can.
