Hello everyone i have a big problem with a nec laseractive.
Hucards work fine, the problem is with cd and LD.
When i put a cd on it disc spins but after 5 seconds it stops. When i put a LD nothing spins....Laser motor moves and red laser is ok....
Laser gone??

Another Laseractive thread 

I received a junk laseractive last week. The tray opens (with a little help), but it would'nt read anything: any type of discs wasn't spinning.

I swapped the lens with another one (BlueBMW, if you read this, you can add the CLD-900 to the compatible units list) and now regular CDs and LDs play fine.

BUT Mega LDs and MegaCDs don't work. The discs spin, but don't launch. Cartridges work.

So I need help from the tech gurus to narrow down the source of the issue 

- If regular CDs and LDs play fine, should Mega CDs and Mega LDs also work, or could the lens be strong enough to read regulars discs but too weak to read games?

- Or could the Sega pac be faulty? I recapped it a while ago, so I quickly checked my old soldering job and it seems fine at first view, except 2 NP caps that don't look genuine  and that I'm sure weren't soldered by me.

- I read in some thread that it's possible to adjust the lens power, but I wasn't able to find info  in the service manual or in forums. Does anybody know wich pot(s) is concerned?

track alignment may be messed also  iv repaired and restored a few  units so there not to hard to repair  also got a extra parts for the laser active   biggest problem with them  is if u leave a cd in them  and turn it off and move system or lift it up and put it on its side the cd falls off the cd tray and jams the  tray   most of the time people pry in it to open it and snap off pegs or push the  tray off of alignment pm me if ur intrested

The TG16 kiosk I recently picked up was supposed to come with some promo stuff too, but the seller couldn't find the box (not the one on eBay for 4K USD).

left me a lot of promo  stuff

Just the Laser discs?? or was there more promo stuff ??

had a few tg16 mugs with the laser disk player and a few laser disks i only tested one but the other 6 need some cleaning

thanks  its not the same video lol  one i got is epic pure 80's kids showing off turbo grafx stuff it lists gsmes with an over view then shows the turbo express and the turbo cd dock system  its either a kiosk add or a video made for events  i remember telling me somthing about it being used at the CNE when thay had the system demoing

i was thinking to try to use some stain glass working tools to build some by hand  as a test but my main problem is the turbo express or pce gt lable  i was thinking sand blast the logo in and sand blast for the border and add a black cover behind it

ok guys, i had a friend of mine pass away, he use to be a repair tech center for TG-16 stuff. he left me a lot of promo  stuff i got a few laser disks  i just tested one on my laser active and it looks like a promo disk iv never seen yet online I'm going to upload the videos to youtube  any one ever come across promo laser discs

Hello All,

I was wondering, switchless mods seem to be becoming prevalent on the SNES and with the Megadrive Plus Plus the option is now available for the Genesis.

However, for the TG16 and PCE the only options available are for region mods with switches. I was wondering why that is the case? Is it simply that the community is comfortable with the mods that exist - or is the prevalence of the TED made physically modding consoles largely irrelevant?

um last i checked snes had no region only tge top shell of the console stops u from useing diffrent region games

ic that was bad is in location IC520 o the underside of the pcb near the hucard slot

figured it out just a few min ago  looks like theres 4 ic chips for the hucard slot that switch over to internal rom  thats bad i swaped one out at ic that leads to the pins for the region mod ill post the name of the ic chip and a photo as soon as i get back home

got an odd problem iv never come accross i got a duo rx  for my collection  hucard works  bit when hue card is removed to play cd games i get colored screens if i cycle power i get white i get blue or brown  screen its almost like systen thinks hucards still installed

anyone have this problem   also system had a region mod looks like seller patched it back to stock

Is there anyone here who can fix my turbo express? Or a trusted company or site who can do it? The screen works fine but no sound and even when I have headphones on it's very faint. I will pay for the labor and parts of course.

as long as no one took a crappy solder gun pistol to the te its fixable lol let me know i can do the repair im a little backed up for a week or so working on panisonic gamecubes and an hdmi mod for them  so i may have some time to work on ur turbo express   pm me ur info on what u want done and if its ever been recapped

i can get tempered glass bit the logo will need to be a decal added to the glass other down side is tempered glass thickness thinner more of a pain it will be to woek with

wet the pad with iso then slide the pad across some white paper or cardboard till the shine goes away on the black contact pads

I got my Duo-R on Monday and it's done this weird thing two times.  When playing Gradius II, it hanged at a black screen for longer than it should have when it was supposed to be loading.  The first time was after the GAME OVER screen.  Instead of quickly loading back to the Konami splash screen, the screen went black for longer than usual.  It proceeded to work flawlessly after that for the next few days.  Just now, when I went to start a game, it hanged at a black screen before it loaded the first level.  And after that, all the music streamed without issue and all subsequent loading happened seamlessly.  The drive itself is actually really quiet, much quieter than my Saturn, 3DOs, or Sega CD.  I just found it a little alarming that it took a bit for the drive to start seeking and loading on just those two freak occasions.  I hope this isn't a sign of it dying.

lube the drive rails  and worm gear  if not its tracking problem  pot needs ajustment

I have a DUO without sound.
I made a cap kit but there's no more sound.
I expect that the PCB have been destroyed by acid.

For now I decided to rebuild amp part on a separate board.
I'v found standard sound signals from HU6260 and all is ok but I can't find sound signals from CD.

If someone can help me.

look at the vias around the power jack section also clean out threw holes in area   i find its mostly ground side of the circut that the threw holes fail

I can't push the the opposing sides together I'll need to cut out some strain relief sections in the cracks before I can rejoin them.

use a locktight brand glue made for fiber and cloth it holds realy good plus not to agressive on the topcoat id sand down gently with 600g wet sand paper and then bridge ur gaps with single strand wire after that lay a thin layer if fiber over the pcb and brush on the locktight glue almost like fiber glassing   after that let it sit and the repair aill be strong as hell  worst case ill buy it if price is right and shell looks good

the crack is not bad in the pcb its under the cpu so i need to pull the chips off and repair the crack and fix broken leads across the board but it not the first one iv repaired  so its still posible  to fix  im keping it for my collection to avoid head ake selling it
