Was just reading a bit about the Gal*Gun 2 endings and found this link for a free replacement cover for the Switch version of the game: http://pqube.co.uk/galgun2/replacement-cover/ I didn't notice but the inside of the sleeve is actually the same as the Switch Wild Guns Reloaded release.

I started and finished the first and only season of The Mist this weekend; it was better than the movie, which I hated, but at the same time I could kind of see why they didn't renew it for another season. That said I loved the way things end at the mall! lol

I've been wanting to check this out for a little while now but have been avoiding it because while it sounds really good it also sounds pretty depressing. One of these days though, I just gotta be in the right mood and remember it...

I love Devil's Crush but am not a big fan of this one, the table just seems like it doesn't have a lot going on compared to that one and I get bored. It's been a while since I've played this though so I'll try and give it another go soon since it's GOTM.

Quote from: Flare65 on 04/26/2018, 09:16 AMI'm on the fence with these two.  They look like fun games, but they also look like something I can get for $4.99 on Steam.  Dunno if they are worth 30 each plush shipping.
I almost just went with just Mercenary Kings but then figured what the hell as I was putting it in my cart. You're right though, Mercenary Kings is $20 on Steam and Flinthook is $15 and I'm sure they'll go on sale at some point for even less. I kind of insist on physical releases though so as long as they're decent I figure they'll be worth having.

Another vote for Dungeon Explorer. Got this one with a TG16 lot my dad picked up at a garage sale ages ago and have barely played it so I guess it's time to give it another go.

Pre-ordered Mercenary Kings and Flinthook for Switch from them the other day. Really wish I had known about that now sold out Thimbleweed Park pre-order when it was live though!

Got mine on Saturday but haven't been able to play it much because of the backlog of games and movies I have currently. I did play it for a bit though, managed to get up to the end of the Castlevania level and really enjoyed what I played so far. Glad to finally see this out, it seems to have turned out very well and was worth the wait; congratulations to the team!

Been playing Ittle Dew 2+ on Switch since Sat. and love this game! It's basically like the original Zelda except cute/silly. Originally I was getting pretty frustrated by the later bosses but now that I've finally gotten used to them I can't think of a single thing I don't like about the game. Nice graphics, great music in certain parts, occasionally funny dialog, and pretty satisfying gameplay. Already beat the main part of the game and am currently working on the last secret dungeon so I can get the final key to fight the final boss. I highly recommend this one, if anyone picks it up try and get the day one edition with the map and manual. I got the regular edition not realizing that this could still be had for around the same price. :/

Also got Gal Gun 2 yesterday and tried that out, it's a pretty ridiculous game but also a lot of fun. I love fps but hate them on consoles because playing with a controller really sucks compared to keyboard and mouse on a PC but with this one you stand still while you're fighting so it's really not that bad. Sadly this game has a distinction that no other console game I've ever owned has, it froze/crashed during the first hour I played it. :/ Fortunately everything seemed alright after; my game was saved and it didn't crash again in the hour and a half or so I played it for after closing and restarting it.

You can link them but not all titles are supported on all platforms, so you may mind up with movies that can only be watched through a specific streaming site. Apparently Movies Anywhere can combine Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, and Vudu libraries.

Quote from: EmperorIng on 04/12/2018, 07:48 PMThanks for the suggestion. I tried it and it still says the iso's are corrupted (bullshit - they work fine on my Windows 7 laptop w/ DaemonToolsLite - the old version before they became scamware). I wonder if it's a Windows 10 problem... just another reason to hate Windows 10 if so.  ](*,)
Sorry to hear. There are some other programs out there, most are commercial, but I've never used them and even if I had I'm on Win7 so YMMV may vary on Win10 anyway. The only other free one I can think of off the top of my head is WinCDEmu, which might be worth a try.

Quote from: MNKyDeth on 04/12/2018, 11:58 PMA bit of self conjecture leads me to believe Microsoft will eventually only let approved software run on there OS and nothing else. Even if the software is safe and not really a threat in any way.
They're already doing this, see "Windows 10 S"; it only allows apps from the app store to be installed on it. A company I do work for asked me to set up some Surfaces with this pre-loaded on them and if it were not for the ability to change back to regular Windows 10 for free (for now...) I wouldn't have been able to do anything with them because nothing they use is in the app store.

I've been having problems with postimage on and off since yesterday and I wasn't able to see the image in Keith Courage's post either but after changing the link from https://postimg.cc/qN0JrWD8 to https://postimg.cc/qN0JrWD8 (which in turn gets redirected to https://postimg.cc/qN0JrWD8) I was able to see it. Continued along with Xenoblade Chronicles X this Sat and managed to find a great grinding spot to quickly level up from 57 to 60 but that was about all the progress I made. I got 3 missions where I just can't beat the required enemies. One is the "insect you must defeat" from one of the Off the Record missions, another is that White Whale mission where you have to fight off enemies for 3 minutes (on one attempt I went in with 4 skells, lost them all, and then died with 4 seconds left on the clock!!!), and the other is the enemy you have to kill in the second part of the mission where you have to generate 130,000 credits in one tick; I can't beat any of these challenges and ruined all my skells except for one trying to.
So I guess for now my goal in the game is to simply accumulate money to buy better skells for the whole team. Figured I could do this by just leaving the game on since I'm getting 130,000 credits per tick now but I just read that if you're not actually playing it won't work past 1 tick. The salvage prices get kind of ridiculous in this game too, to salvage my best skell it will cost over 2,400,000 credits!

Since last weekend most of my free time has been going to Xenoblade Chronicles X. Started this one in Sept. but then took a break for Oct. movie watching and then didn't really feel like playing again until last weekend. It's not that I got tired of the game but I really prefer to play it when I'm willing to spend pretty much all day on it and it wasn't until last weekend that I felt like playing games like this. In the 33+ hours I put in Sat. – Mon. I managed to go up 17 levels (level 52) and complete the 10th story mission, which was actually the only story mission I ever died doing. Leveling up becomes so easy once you get a skell!
I was actually trying to hold off on the story missions until I had Nagi and Murderess leveled at their necessary affinity levels but things got a bit tedious trying to do this since the only missions I could seem to find after not very long without doing another story mission were annoying Gathering missions; I tend to not focus on these and then just accept them when I'm at the terminal and see that I've already collected everything for them as trying to collect specific items often tends to get annoying. I also can no longer seem to find Nagi after dropping him from the party to do Chapter 9 but I'm sure I'll stumble upon him again at some point.
Anyway, the plan for now is to get Nagi and Murderess' affinity levels up, hit level 60, go up one more Blade Level to get Bio up to 4 like Mechanical and Archoelogical, and do the Off the Record missions before I start Chapter 11; hopefully the game will not make this too tedious...

Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U) – I don't think I ever got sucked into a game like I did with this one.

Shantae: ½ Genie Hero (Wii U) – I bought this because it kind of reminded me of Wonder Boy a little and wasn't disappointed.

Steamworld Heist (Wii U) – Wasn't that interested in this one because of the turn-based aspect but once I started playing it I couldn't stop.

Steamworld Dig (Wii U) – A fun take on a platforming game but the end made me sad.

Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (Wii U) – Seeing the original compared to this makes me not regret never playing the original. Not that I don't think I would have enjoyed it but this version looks like a massive upgrade.

God Panic (PCE) – Picked this up earlier in the year and wound up beating it after just a couple of tries. It's a fun game with all kinds of quirky art, but it was not a good value considering how easily it was beaten by me.

CyberCore (TG16) – As a kid I never got past the 3rd of 4th level but then one day I popped this one in and beat it after just a couple of tries. It's no Raiden but beating it was still very satisfying.

New Adventure Island (PCE) – Is this even worth mentioning for me? Of course I beat New Adventure Island in 2017!

Splatterhouse (TG16) – Still can't remember if this was a first time clear back in April but I managed to do the same later in Oct.

Final Fight (arcade) – It's hard to pass up a chance to play this, the gameplay is just so satisfying.

Super Bomberman R (Switch) – My friend picked this up on the way to my place, we beat every level in one sitting, and I'm pretty sure they returned it on their way home.

English of the Dead (DS) – A couple of the letters are a little tricky to write with the stylus and it's hard to figure out some of the clues because they're in Japanese, but overall this was a lot of fun and for the money not a bad deal (decided to get this instead of Typing of the Dead and the Dreamcast Keyboard...).

Quote from: esteban on 12/22/2017, 03:47 PMOk, you have piqued my interest in 3615 Code Père Noë!!

I enjoy watching the first two DIE HARD films for XMAS (my wife and daughter consider them important XMAS films and I agree).

I want to rewatch the first two Silent Night Deadly Night films since I haven't seen them in decades, but they were quite enjoyable at the time (middle school).

I am not sure if I have ever watched To All A Good Night...
This year Die Hard 2 kicked off the Christmas movie viewings but after watching it I kind of wish I'd gone with the first one. Probably going to do Silent Night Deadly Night tonight or tomorrow.
3615 Code Père Noël can be had from Amazon.de but I think you'll need to be able to play region b BDs to watch it, unfortunately. It's a nice release; the label that put it out, Camera Obscura, always does an excellent job.

Every year I watch more or less the same Christmas movies (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Black Christmas, Silent Night Deadly Night, and the TPB Christmas Special) but this year I added a new one to the lineup, To All a Goodnight. I didn't remember caring for this one when I saw it on VHS but after watching the BD last night I kind of wonder why that is. While it's not the best Christmas slasher I found that it does move at a fairly decent pace and has a decent body count with a couple of pretty cool kills; the story is a little generic but overall not bad either. It's no Silent Night Deadly Night but, imo, it's definitely worth a look if you're into 80s Christmas slashers!
Trivia: This was the first role for Jennifer Runyon, who would later star in Charles in Charge (Gwendolyn), and it is also the only full-length feature directed by David Hess (of Last House on the Left fame).

Also checked out another 80s Christmas slasher (sort of...) that I'd never seen or heard of before: 3615 Code Père Noël (aka "Deadly Games" and "Game Over") and was pretty entertained by it in spite of it's somewhat slow start, low body count, and mostly off-screen violence. It's the story about a kid at home in his family's mansion/castle on Christmas Eve with his somewhat feeble and half-blind Grandpa. He talks to some crazy guy on some Santa chat room and the guy figures out where he lives and tries to kill him. The boy, using improvised traps, attempts to defend himself and his grandfather from the killer Santa. The story is pretty decent and the atmosphere is really cool, it's one of those movies where I almost feel like I'm there in the setting and like being there.
If the plot of that one sounds a lot like Home Alone you would not be alone in thinking that because apparently the director threatened to sue the makers of Home Alone, which came out a year later, over the similarities between the two movies. Now I want to watch Home Alone...

Quote from: crazydean on 11/29/2017, 04:46 AMBut WHY?
Some people do this for the copper in the cord; they get a bunch of them, strip them, and sell the copper to a scrap metal place. I actually know someone who does or used to do this; any time they see someone with an appliance at the curb they'll stop their car and chop off the power cord if someone hasn't already beaten them to it.

Quote from: crazydean on 11/09/2017, 01:27 AMThere has been an official announcement of more NES Classic's next year. If you've waited this long, it's probably best to keep waiting.

I wonder if the next production run will be different in any way. I hope it is identical so collectards don't buy yet another useless box for their shelf.
Yeah, I'm only willing to buy one if I can buy it like any other item without having to jump through hoops but this might be worthwhile for those willing to load the app since Woot is a discount site and they might get a good deal or, at the very least, get it now. Then again they could probably charge more than MSRP or bundle it with some other crap they want to move and they would more than likely still sell out so who knows. Pretty curious as to the details of this sale.
I base this on nothing but my own pessimism but I figure that the next iteration will be different in some way and just hope that it still has everything I want when it does get re-released.

Got an email from Woot.com earlier that said they were going to have some NES Classics for sale as an "appsclusive" (you can only buy them through their app, not on the web page...) tomorrow, Thurs, 11/9. So if you're willing to load some arbitrary bs on your phone, tablet, or whatever to buy something then you might have a shot at getting one. No mention of price.

The 3DO version has flaws and awkward controls...but I can't remember if the original was that much better (ha!).
Probably about the same, it's hard to dial in the CPU speed perfectly in DOSBox and this causes issues with aiming and being able to run but I think I also had these issues on the hardware the game was meant for back in the day, just not as much.

The song from the level 1 boss in God Panic sounds a lot like Stairway to Heaven. I think that at some point later in the game there is some music that reminds me of a Guns N Roses song but it's been a while since I played this so I'm not 100% sure.
