Anyone know the difference between Ys4 version 4 and Ys4 version 5?

Are those the 2 different versions in japan? Meaning version 5 would be the expert version?

So, as it turns out CDRDAO on Linux was working perfect for me.

The problem happened to be the connection between the genesis and the sega cd!


No one here asked me "Is it plugged in?"

Is anyone able to burn the Super Air Zonk bin/cue? It's the only one so far that's not working for me...

Have any of you had success burning Sega CD roms?

(I only have Linux computers)

I'm using CDRDAO. I've never had a problem with it, burning bin/cue for other systems.

When I burn with normal settings, the game works, but the music is all static. Sound FX are fine.

When I burn with the audio bits swapped, the music now works, but the sprites are not visible.

Late reply, but +1 for Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs.

We used them for audio masters, back in the day. They actually have less read errors than pressed CDs.

It's strange that kids now won't really be able to have conversations like this about video games. Soon everything will be digital downloads. So once the server is gone, they won't be able to purchase the best of games as nostalgia. Possibly just buy ports of them on newer systems...

Street fighter 2 surprises me. For me, that one just doesn't feel like the best port. But I'm actually used to playing it from an original pcb :-)


R type is another game I refuse on other systems. It's in my top 5 tg16 games!

What's one game on TG16, that just isn't as good on any other system. Only pick one, because I know there are many!

My #1 is Ys III. It just doesn't feel right on any other system. I actually remember going to my friend's house and he wanted to play it on SNES. I was laughing when I saw it!

Fantastic game. I bought it when it came out. I remember begging my dad to drive me to Toys R Us so I could get it. By the time we got home, there were like 65 mile per hour wins outside, and a tornado warning. Back then, a tornado warning means an actual tornado was actually spotted. Anyways, my whole family was in the basement. I was in my room playing my new game, hoping the power wouldn't go out.

I didn't read this whole thread, so I'm not sure if anyone else already brought this up. But Ninja Spirit is the first game to receive a perfect score from EGM...

When the PS1 came out, I TRADED a: Turbo Duo, 2x controllers, 10x+ games including Ys I/II, Monster's Lair, Devil's Crush etc for an almost new (modded) PS1 with 2 games...

Also, I got a Mac Color Classic II (very rare), with carrying case, for TEN DOLLARS back in 2003. I tore it apart and built a portable PS2 with it's case... That thing was cool, but didn't last long before it died...

sigh...

I've been kicking myself lately.

When the original playstation was released, I traded a Duo w/ 2 controllers, tap, Ys1/2, Bonk 1-3, Monsters Lair, Devil's Crush, and a whole lot more for an (almost) new PS1 w/ 2 controllers, mod chip and a few games...

FML. Seemed like a good deal at the time!

Detroit has changed a lot over the past few years. In the 90s, it was lawless. I could seriously do whatever I wanted. From 1999-2006 I managed a music studio downtown. There would be many times where I would be the only person in site, on a giant city block, surrounded by tall buildings. I felt like it was my personal city.

But now many people have moved back. Tons of new businesses have opened. It is actually really safe. Honestly, it's a bit annoying. I miss my personal city!!

Actually, with Tron 3 getting cancelled, I think Tron cabs have dropped a bit in resale value.

I've gotten a few cabs and parts from  3 people in the roseville area. Tony, Danny, and... Some other guy that had 2 large storage units FULL of cabs!
