Sorry I can't be of help here, sounds pretty bad!

Hello,
I am trying to fix some PC Engine console and I recently got stuck with a Super CDROM2.
The Caps leaked so much that the liquid corroded part of the PCB.
I tried to gently clean it but several components unsoldered during the process. (not mentioning that I have to create some bridges to repair some damages)
Q304
ZD301
ZD302
I cleaned them and tried to put them again since they seemed fine.
However for ZD301, corrosion removed one of the legs.
I would like to buy a new part but I was not able to find any information regarding the value I should get for it.
I tried with a different Super CDROM2 and I measured a value of 10.78V which seems a little high (I was expecting something around 5V)
Do you know where I can get some data sheet regarding this type of part?
Or perhaps somebody can measure the value on their device so I can get a better understanding what I shall buy?
Thank you for your help.

Hello everyone, happy new year!

Well, not much to report for 2025, I've always had trouble with the email system (sorry if you received this twice) and it didn't prove a popular idea, BUT, there is BIG breaking news which hopefully you may hear first from PCEFX! Supper the Subtitler has struck again after Far East of Eden/Tengai Makyou: Ziria by completing an Emerald Dragon English patch 100% by himself!!! He timed it for a New Year's Eve release!

5/3/2025 - PC Engine Localization for Zero4 Champ is released by Supper the Sniper!

I decided to share a pre-patched English CD image (BIN/CUE format) of Emerald Dragon after requests for help and then seeing how tough it is to patch it yourself (wow, even I had a lot of trouble!)! Feel free to share the ZIP link around:

Protips: Don't use the BizHawk emulator with this patched game! The the voice-acting/lip-movement versus animation/cutscenes is wildly out of sync! I can confirm MESEN, MagicEngine work correctly. Analogue FPGA Duo does the same thing as BizHawk whether you use a SD card & ripped image via the jailbreak firmware or a burned CD-R via normal firmware, just badly out of sync... And I don't think Analogue cares about the product anymore, I doubt it'll get future updates.

I looked around for you via reverse Google-image searching and found that iFixRetro also bought one and did a capacitor replacement job on it! He made posts on X/Facebook/Instagram, so here ya go. I already asked him for you but you should too.

This is a high res photo, but overhead so not much help in identifying cap values unfortunately:

Hi,

First of all, sorry for mostly posting requests for support on this forum.

I've acquired a non-functioning Duo Monitor that I'm trying to fix.
When I've opened the device I've found that unfortunately someone else has already had a go at trying to fix it by replacing some electrolytic caps with ceramic caps - not a good sign.
I have noticed that the capacitor C528 is missing.
I have tried to find info on the capacitor value online, but to no avail (console5 has a list of the electrolytic capacitors on the device, but some of them are missing, like C528 - link )
There is a post on a repair webpage by "grogory" ( link ) where he has some pictures of the disassembly. In a couple of them you can see the capacitor itself, but the values are unclear to me.
Here are some pics with the C528 cap highlighted:

I can see that the rated voltage is 50V, but I am in doubt if the capacitance is either 2.2uF or 22uF.

If you have any idea for the value of that capacitor, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

In addition to the cap map, I want to say that if you have the loudspeakers that came with it and they don't sound good, there's a solution:
If you remove the metal mesh in front (a sharp object through it and some gentle leverage might do the trick) you will discover 4 screws that hold the 2 parts of the case together.
Inside, there is a standard 4-inch loudspeaker with a square support plate.
The speaker itself has 8 ohms and rated at 15W max
Space in the case is relatively tight: the loudspeaker is 6cm tall, and I'm not sure if any size bigger than that might fit
In any case it should be easy to find a replacement, de-solder, and re-solder the new part

Hope it helps!

Hi,

I recently got a PC Engine ROM2AMP accessory as I have seen it produces a nice sound, and I like the design a lot!

I am preventively replacing the caps, so I have created a capacitor chart.

It is based on the image uploaded by user thearthur777 on reddit ( https://www.reddit.com/r/TurboGrafx/comments/1e8uclk/pc_engine_amp30_capacitor_replacement_chart/ )
There is a discrepancy on one capacitor between their capacitor list and my unit.

Maybe my board is a different revision, but given the low sales of this accessory I doubt that there's more than one revision. So, I think the best would be for everyone to verify all their cap values before any de-soldering.
