12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Here is an old review of Order of the Griffon from Game Pro. I'll go through some mores stuff later and see what else I have.

Alt-Nintega

wow that brings back so much memories. I used to subscribe to that mag. Thanks for posting some nostalgia.

EDIT: I have a friend who now lives in WI that has the very first issue in mint condition.

Alt-Nintega

I like how they used to rate the games. The faces in the bottom right corner. So epic!

kiketonto

I don't think the review makes justice to the game. I found it a very good game...

I haven't read that review in so long, I can't form an opinion. I'll have to get the game out and give it some serious playing sometime and then read that review.
It was just something I pulled out of my old yahoo group that I thought some might like to see since there has been a little bit of talk around here lately of that game.

EDIT: Yeah. Those little faces were funny.

And I thank your scan. I don't have any magazine that talks about Turbo games and all I read in these forums are great. But I got the game (and played) and the final note (Intermediate) seems so low to me for a game like that.  Play it! It will like you!

I think what they meant was the difficulty is Intermediate.

SMF

I got old Gamepro, EGMs and A few others that talk about the TG16. Ill post when I find them.

Thanks. I'll get on it as soon as I get back to my Neutopia replay.
Yeah, just some old scans from TT-16. Nothing major, just stuff I kept from the old gaming magazines.

Glad you like it though. I'll see what else I can dig up later...

EDIT: Here's another one. This one is from EGM.

Shrapnoid

Here's one from VG & CE...

It's a two pager.

Shrapnoid

Here's the other page...

Alt-Nintega

thanks for the posting this cool stuff. I really like the graphics of both those games, Well at least from what I can tell in those scans they look pretty good. Especially that shooter.

It's kind of fun but, it can get annoying by the time you get to stage 4 or 5.

The Final Soldier, is that hucard or CD?

roflmao

It's a PC Engine Hu - I love it.  It's fairly easy, which is a plus for me, because I'm not great at shmups.  I haven't 1cc'd it yet, but I'm close.

it's EASY? I died a lot of times in shmups untill I bought the Turbo stick! Finally I complete R-Type after years playing it.

Man, EGM was soooo shit.  They never rated games, and I bet they barely played them; That "review" just describes the weapon select screen, and the rest of it is just screenshots.

It was a catalogue at best, and it used to wind me up.  Plus they had hardly any TG-16 reviews.

*edit but that Veigues review makes me want to buy it.

Ooops. You're right. That wasn't a review. Well, what's done is done.

EGM did do some reviews but, the majority of the ones I saw on Turbo games gradually got worse and worse, even after TTI took over, the bashing increased.
I still think that Sega and Nintendo had something to do with that.
VG & CE were fair to the TG16 and then their mag went under only to try and make a comeback under a slightly altered name.

Alt-Nintega

so basically GamePro was the top dog then?

Shrapnoid

Game Pro was okay when they were starting out but, then, they just started to be more concerned with doing little comics of games and -well they just got boring after a while and eventually EGM took the lead with their fancy glossy covers and flashy advertisements but, they were good about showing you stuff long before it would be released in the states and the did do a few in-depth coverage of some things.

Alt-Nintega

how about these days? whats the top gaming magazine out there?
