Dungeon Explorer and Accessories

I am trying to get to grips with this game and have a query. When you collect accessories is it the last item that takes effect or do these combine?

For example if I pick up "boots of ability" and then the "Ring of Resistance" do I have both "Boots of ability" and the "Ring of Resistance" or just the "Ring of Resistance" as this was the last item collected?
