Localization Legend "Supper the Subtitler" has "joined the club" in being targeted for CD-pressings by bootleg master Tobias/PCEWorks! His projects like Private Eyedol, Galaxy Fräulein Yuna 1 & 2, etc. are now being sold on Chinese factory-pressed CDROMs...

well, i've got a copy of captain commando on the SNES that loads about 90% of the time.
however, 100% of the time when it loads, it omits one layer of the background, specifically the floor.
any ideas on what can be up with that?
i've cleaned the shit out of the cart, and i've resoldered all of the connections on the board, so i'm out.

SuperDeadite

sounds like a properly functioning SNES game to me.

Haha.  I play the Mega Man X games and Super Mario World every once in a while, but besides that, I basically never touch my SNES.

not really familiar with the snes hardware, but it sounds like a system prob.
have you tried it on another system

If it is the game, then maybe something inside, is not loading. Various graphics are stored in multiple ROM chips on boards. Also maybe something is loose on the inside.

The SNES mode 7 might be going as well, try other mode 7 dependent games. I say this because this is the only oddity that has ever happen to my original SNES.

SNES games either loads or they do not, they have a very low chance of not working unlike NES games, which is usually the fault of the pins/teeth/etc insert area.

Try some other games, and see if you see things that are missing, here and there.

Once the sh*t is cleaned out, try removing the dust as well.

well, a little more in depth notes, new testing, etc:

SNES is super clean, i keep in that way
no other games give me any problems, loads games like 90% of the time, 100% after a blow or a q-tip
single chip board, no mode 7 that i'm aware of.

ideas:
change the resistor and capacitor on the board, other than that, i think i'm SOL.

Sometimes chips just go bad. You can always have a new one burned off for you and just replace the bad rom.
