Good AV/S video Switch??

Hey.

I am looking to get a nice AV/S video switch for my consoles, as I have too many and the annoyance of figuring out which cables belong to which system is growing old, fast.

Anyone out there have a good one? What brand is it, and where did you get it from. Ultimately, I'm looking for something reliable that does not hamper video/audio quality. No buzzing noise would be great too. I bought one from China a while back. Buzzzzzz city. Terrible piece o junk.

I have an old Pelican AV switch like this:

I have the $20 Dynex switch from Best Buy. It works great.

I have Philips A/V auto-switchers that work great. I can't emphasize enough how much I love not having to deal with physically switching the device.

I use el cheapo A/V that I've acquired over the years from game stores and one from a salvage shop. Since composite is outdated, you can score some passive switch boxed on the cheap now.

I do have the issue of not enough ports so I have to piggyback my switchboxes but this works for me.

Most trouble comes when you have to deal with 21-pin RGB Scart switches. They're usually rather disappointing, as even the more expensive models introduce faint noise patterns over the picture.

Composite and S-Video switches aren't affected that much from these symptoms, as they have much less signals to switch and transfer through their circuitry.

Like majors I've sourced most of mine from misc places, mainly thrift shops for me.  I've got one of those silver component ones like he has in the picture above from Radio Shack, plus a pair of Sony AV switches which are daisy chained and handle almost all my composite needs.  They work well for me with the half a dozen or so systems I've got set up.

Hey I got the Pelican switch listed, that one is great, I also even have that old school mad cats, just does basic AV, fine for that too.

I bought a knock off Hamzo (I think that is what it is) for Scart switching. Unfortunately I think I had a bade male to male connector, so I can't really vouch for it right now.

Then of course you could always pick up a nice AV receiver from like 7 years ago that will switch everything you need and provide nice stereo sound for your games. That is my personal recommendation, Dennon and Yamaha both work great. Just look for Component and S-video switching and your set.

That Pelican looks pretty boss, but it looks like it can only do component. Can it also do composite video Jelloslug?

Well, I should really pick something up. I know I asked this questions a few weeks ago, and I have done nothing about it yet.

As it stands, I have a bundle of AV cables zip tied with labeles on them. every time I change a system I'm at the back of the TV again. mind you, my Duo-RX is always plugged into the TV, so no issues there

It also does composite and I believe s-video. It even has an Ethernet switch but that isn't of much use these days

Component, composite, s-video, analog audio, digital audio, and network ports.  It also has removable button labels so you can customize it.
