12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Here is an interesting article I found about our beloved Turbo. Not sure if this has been posted already or not. Check out the link below.

Looking for TG16 games I don't have already.

Thanks for the link to a very interesting article.
Quite shocked about the amount of ram (or lack thereof) that the pce/tg had for the gfx and sound
although being able to read directly from the game roms and faster operating cycles than other consoles obviously made up for this.

CrackTiger

Considering he had it fact checked, I'm surprised by all the errors. :P

Sounds strongly like Kamahl's opinions interpreted with a bunch of guessing presented as facts. His heart was in the right place, but he shouldn't have attempted this kind of detailed overview until he had at least played more games and become more familiar with how the hardware and games really work.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

After reading the TG16 article I'm going back and reading the whole series.  Yeah, I disagree with some stuff (someone out there honestly thinks that the Genesis had the best soundchip out of 16bit generation?!?) but either way it was well written and enjoyable.

I got a bit turned off due to the errors / oversimplifications... think I might get off my ass and write an e-mail sometime...

Quotebut as I said earlier, we're factoring the CD games out, and just focusing on the core system (otherwise, we should've brought Sega CD and 32X into this, and we're not.
ROLF, another one of these "without le CD-ROM the PCE has no bread" comments. It didn't add any additional hardware to the system, unlike the Mega-CD, 32X and any customchips in hunderds of SNES carts did..godamnhsjksl!!!

PCE Games countdown: 690/737 (47 to go or 93.6% clear)
PCE Shmups countdown: 111/111 (all clear!!)
Sega does what Nintendon't, but only NEC does better than both together!^^

Hmm, good stuff.  Overall I think he tried to do a decent job of giving an overview, although he should have had a much deeper understanding of it before attempting such a detailed overview. And there was some bad stuff becuase of that, of like that which was pointed out.

Two things that bother me:
Overall, I understand why we all pit the TG-16 , SNES, and Genesis against one another.   But I find articles like this are far better when they don't compare or bring up other systems.  Generally becuase you get this system is more fun/better ect. ect.  Instead of enjoying each system as it is.  And then you get to a point where they don't even try the games.  Then these "basic" opinions get spread.  It's not just the TG-16 that this happens with, I've seen it done with the other systems to.  It's a shame.

Also I hate articles like this that lament over ever detail of processing power to come to the end and say hmmm let me sell this system for $500 bucks.  It seems more like a bragging party about how much they know (or don't in most cases) and what a great collection they have.  Idk it just turns me off, maybe it doesn't bother others so much.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

OK, maybe I was a bit unfair before reading the whole article, since he is really trying to point out the real strength of the system, even isolated from its final used media. and it seems he really did this quite accurate and unbiased, and in a good favor for the PCE vs. MD/SNES in comparison.
So even for a dude like him, which isn't in the obey biz since forever, the PCE really can and also did  overtrump both the MD and SNES in many examples given. name a few like huge sprites or vibrant colors etc., the PCE really shines in that article in a way you read it rather rarely outside this community :)

Now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time I read a guy who's more of an outsider to Turbo stuff that had such a favorable opinion of the platform.

Good points tats, Seieienbu.  It is true that most of these don't have a positive review.

I wonder what his take will be when he starts playing the depth of the Japan released games?  I love the US stuff, but the PCE library is so much more vibrant when compared to the US.
