Just realized this is the proper place for introductions.  Thanks for adding me.

I'm 37 and I've been a fan of TG16 since I first bought one right around the day it was originally introduced in the U.S.  Over the years I've had TG16 consoles/collections on and off and on again, mostly because of moving all over the place constantly, losing stuff, giving stuff away, having people store my stuff, getting some of it back, etc. I guess I lived a rather transient existence there for the better part of two decades.  Anyway it remained my favorite video game system all along.

Lately I've just gotten in this mood where I wanted to again own original Turbografx16 physical media and again play it on the original, dedicated hardware.

And then finding a decent deal on a very well-kept TG16 base unit on Craigslist has pretty much set me off on the Turbografx game-acquiring version of an alcoholic bender.  Now I'm just in the process of rounding up all my favorites and playing them.

So my interests right now are pretty simple and yes, boring perhaps, considering I'm not even much into any CDs or PCE stuff (right now, anyway, I know that is a HUGE part of it I miss out on).

But maybe someone can help me understand something, because I have basically been living in a vacuum and didn't know much about the current market for Turbo games until fairly recently.  My question is, what is up with the prices for some of this stuff?  I understand good, scarce items are going to be worth a premium, but Jebuz, my recent adventure back into TG16 collecting is showing me it's pretty rough out there these days.

Anyway, there is a ridiculous amount of really good content and useful information in these forums.  Glad to be here.  Thanks!

Welcome, friend. Enjoy the forum.  And yeah pricing is pain, you'll find people complaining about it quite frequently.  me included.  E-bay and collecting has become a fairly popular thing these days.  But hey there are plenty of ways to play games these days that won't kill the bank account.

Anyway enjoy  :D
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

I saw you pop into the chat once but didn't stay for long. Check back in for some good turbo chats :D

Nazi NecroPhile

Welcome aboard!  Due to show piece collectors and impatience, some prices are indeed rather nutty; thankfully much of the library can still be bought for relatively cheap (less than original MSRP) or for even less as the PCE version.
