10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

I'm having some trouble getting the CD to spin on my Duo-R. If I just leave the CD on without closing the lid everything spins fine except the laser has trouble reading the disc since it's wobbly, however when I add the magnetic clamp (removed from the lid) the disc stops as it can't seem to overcome the added weight of the clamp. Anyone have any ideas on where to begin?

Sounds like the center spindle has been smashed down. This is very common. You will need to open up the system and pry the spindle back up slightly. You should use a pair of curved pliers as to not accidentally bend one side of the spindle or the other. Simply turn the pliers upside down and then apply little force pushing down from underside of the spindle to pry it up. http://www.hanessupply.com/webcatalog/PicturesCategory400/Curved%20Long%20Needle-Nose%20Pliers.jpg
