I am a brand new member to the TG-PCengine community here on the forums, and I want to start things off by thanking the members of this forum that made all of the repair documentation.

I got into TG16 collecting here in the USA by purchasing a Turbo Express on Half.com when they still were allowed to sell systems...years ago now.  It arrived with no sound, and the famous sound cap fix got it going again.  I often used it at work during lunch and breaks, enjoying titles like Raiden on the go!

A bit after I realized I should pick up a TurboDuo and I found one on ebay with a bad laser.  The forums come in handy again and I quickly located a HOP-M3 replacement and install it, fixing the Duo.  Local resources were good back then and I purchased a few used games:  the 4-in-1 CD (loose) and Ys.  Great fun!  (side note:  I never use CDRs, preferring the legit CDs and the fun in acquiring them)

Later, the screen on the Turbo Express went black and I found another thread here documenting which cap to replace to fix that issue, and I was a happy gamer once again.

Now, I have my biggest TG repair yet:  A loose Turboduo found 'in the wild' locally.  I had a spare controller and I quickly hunted down A/V cables, and a matching knock-off power supply.  I hope members here can now help out with the completely missing CD door and laser assembly.  I have started a repair thread.  I've got to fix it, what a story I could tell later!

It is an exciting time to be a member here, this is a cause for celebration!  I always get a thrill when I can find anything TG-16 nowadays, and this TurboDuo project is a dream come true to save it from the grave.

My games list isn't special.  I found some locally, some at auction over the years.  I tend to like the early IREM games and any/all shooters.  I have a few of the later games too, like Samurai Ghost and Air Zonk but those are card only.  Every once and a while I can add an original manual to a loose game, which fills me with pride every time!

Thanks for being so welcoming everyone!  So far, my wild duo may at least have a CD door available; the same member is looking around for the complete laser assembly this desperately needs.

Once I get the correct power plug end, I'll start asking around in the repair section for the least expensive place to get a cap kit.  I have a feeling I may have to use the cap kit chart and make a picked-by-hand order from Digikey.  From what I am reading in the forums, I might want to upgrade the caps by the heat sinks/audio amp to a higher heat tolerance.

I played it last night robbing the PS from my other duo and I still can't believe it's on my desk and playing card games.  It is such a thrill!

Oh, no...say no to VGA grading and slabbing.  I play my stuff and I do not sell; I figure most of this stuff was hard enough to find once let alone twice.  I do have a backlog of shame, but that is limited to newer systems.

I am almost afraid to ask, but I have seen this OBEY thing on some posts here.  Anyone care to explain?
