12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Just out of complete curiosity is this a big topic in the news inside the US at the moment?

Yes. And, honestly, this video is just a small glimpse into all of the problems here in 'merica.

I am not going to crucify the police officer (not today, anyway). There is no need to.

He may or may not deserve it.

What is far more important is to look beyond this single incident and focus on the big picture:  there are undeniable patterns of police using overly aggressive strategies against certain groups/communities/demographics.

The problem is not with individual officers ("bad apples"), the problem is at the institutional level (the whole damn orchard is poisoned): how police officers are trained, how the culture of policing justifies/rationalizes overly aggressive tactics, political posturing to be "tough on crime" etc. etc. etc.

Racism, classism, xenophobia, inequality, etc. are alive and well.

Again, I am referring to the overwhelming evidence (police statistics, not just a few sensational anecdotal videos) that show how police culture is fundamentally disconnected from the communities they are expected to protect, support and serve.

That is one town over from where I live.  I find it crazy too that people cant keep their opinions off facebook.  Did this teacher really think nothing was going to happen to them when they did this:

I'm sure sharing her stupid opinion, that no one cares about, was worth losing her job.

Jesus christ, she really screwed herself over when she said she wanted segregation back. Not to mention the other racist stuff she said

This is old news.  Cop is retarded.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

This is old news.  Cop is retarded.
He's from UK and was trying to gauge how we, as a nation, were/weren't having a dialogue about it.  :)

My guess is that he lives up in the Shetland Islands and has to row his boat mainland for an Internet Cafe.

Just joking, Otaking. :)

I definitely diagnose red mist. If you don't learn to recognise the signs effectively it takes over extremely quickly.

I had never heard it before either.

Neither had I, but I assumed it was something akin to "seeing red"...

The police these days more often then not resemble the police in the Running Man novel. Sad, but true.

I get why the cops were called but I disagree with how they handled matters.  It seems to me that it should've been a simple "Party's over, dump your cups, go home" dispersal to all the bystanders rather than sitting them all down and chasing after them when they attempted to leave.  Any actual violent offenders?  Yeah, sure, get them for vandalism or whatever.

However, sitting a hundred people down to get stories from everyone or whatever?  That straight up won't work and it should be obvious to anyone.  Perhaps I'm missing something, but from my perspective it looked like the officer was getting pissed off about a bunch of kids running off and ended up pulling his gun at an unarmed group.  I wouldn't mind if someone lost their job over that, particularly since I live nearby and would appreciate it if cops were more reasonable and less prone to violent actions.

APPARENTLY that police officer had been called to two different suicides before being called to that pool party. His lawyer is claiming that is why he was on edge.

Am I sticking up for him, hell no.

Yeah, that's why I said I wasn't going to crucify this guy.

Dealing with highly stressful, emotionally draining/challenging situations must take its toll.

However, that never excuses the abuse of power...

...but, it certainly helps us better understand what led to the poor decisions the officer made.

I still don't understand the tuck-n-roll he did at the beginning of the video. Was it intentional, or was it a good recovery from a trip?

I've been wondering that since I first saw it!

I can't decide.

It sort of looks like he tripped, and that was his recovery.  Not really sure though.  He may have done it to look cool.

I'll say.

Can you imagine if that became a police officer's normal greeting to everyone?

"Excuse me officer, did I do someth.."

*!DIVE ROLL!*

"Ohh, okay then. That was nice, back to what I was saying. Did I-I.."

*!DIVE ROLL!*

"I'll just go ahead and cuff myself and hop in the back seat then..."

*sigh*

as opposed to now, where you just roll everywhere?

On topic-
it's worth noting that when the officer pulled his weapon, it was because someone ran up on his side while he had the girl down.
this same person had a hand reaching/near the hip, so it would be easy in that situation to assume that he's reaching for a weapon of some kind.
after the individual runs away, he holsters his gun again, and continues with what he was doing.

tl;dr
was he being a dick? yes
was he using excessive force up until that point? yes
do i think the gun drawing was warranted, and handled appropriately? maybe, but i'm not a cop.

At least he was smart enough to quit before they could fire his stupid ass, which of course lets him save his pension and retirement benefits.
