Hello all.  This spring I moved from Illinois to Southern Florida, so most of my stuff is in storage.  Thanks to this damn forum I finally had to empty out my storage unit and find my neglected TG-16, and it was buried, next to a box of Laserdiscs, lol

Anyway, I'm an original owner of a TG-16 when it first came out, I was 12.  Then I got the CD add-on when that became available.  That was my first CD player of any kind too. I started off playing Intellivision, then got the NES before the TG-16.  After came SNES and then Xbox360.  The TG-16 was my favorite system, I think I had it at just the right age to make a lasting impression.  I also had the TurboExpress but I kept having pixels go bad even on exchanged units so I finally got that refunded. I remember having the TurboPlay subscription for it's entire run, but then threw them all away some years later. :(

Speaking of that there was a time I think mid to late 90's I needed some money and my father had someone that was going to by my TG-16.  I kept all the games but got rid of them later.  About 5 years or so after that out of the blue my father hands me my TG-16 back like it was nothing.  Turns out the deal fell threw, he felt bad and gave me the money anyway and just held on to the system (I think he forgot he had it for a bit).  I then had to reacquire a few games.  I forgot what games I even had since I hadn't played it in the last 10 years until I unboxed it yesterday. Only thing really note worthy was finding my favorite game Y's Book 1 & 2 still with the box and map, and Bonk 3, no case but with the manual.  A surprise was finding Sherlock Holmes 2 because I got rid of the 3.0 super system card with the original exodus of games.  ](*,)  Why the hell didn't I get another 3.0 card back before they became worth more than gold, idiot!  Oh well, I'm happy to still have the system and have no intention of selling any of it.  I wouldn't mind finding a few games I originally had and loved playing, like Alien Crush, R-type, Psychosis and Splatterhouse but becoming a 'collector' is not something I'm interested in, I already have a couple expensive hobbies.

I ended up finding this forum when I for some strange reason felt like researching the TG-16.  I've been lurking around for a few weeks and I must say this is an entertaining place. The banter between some of you is hysterical.  And the 'Pro tips for noobs' in the Fighting Street section is funny as hell and at the same time surprisingly informative. I may not be a noob to the TG-16 but I sure am to how the TG-16/NEC world currently exists now.  There's a lot I'm learning about the mods, system variations and games that I had no idea about. And a lot of acronyms.

Well that probably went on longer than it should have, if you actually read all that thanks.  If not, I don't blame you. 8-[

Welcome aboard!

It's always fun reading how people originally fell in love with the Turbob, lost their way with other lesser systems, but ultimately saw the light and returned to OBEY.

It only took 20 years or so for me to find my way back, but better late than never

Nice story and welcome to Pcenginefx!

Good stuff.

It's crazy how a forum like this brings out stories like yours, and brings turbo-heads out of the woodwork to let you know that your psychosis is shared by a majority of the community.

Thanks for sharing, and welcome aboard! :D

I loved watching laserdiscs, no more rewinding the VHS tapes   BTW, one other defunct format I have that society will/has forgotten about is HD-DVD.  Back when the BluRay-HDDVD war was ending I got the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox360 and 8 movies, lol
