10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Cool, and looks polished like the Amiga version.  I'm slightly disappointed that you didn't use the 320-pixel screen mode, or higher, of the PCE.  Was there a reason why?

thanks - we used a lot of the original graphics, but all new maps.

no idea why on the resolution - iirc, the screen buffer was 128x64 so displaying at 320x vs 256x (which I believe it is right now) probably shouldn't cause major issues... i'll have to hunt for the 7up docs to see what needs to be set and give it a try

This is great news!  I eagerly await future developments!

Please sir, if you happen to find -any- developer documents, could you please, please, please post them somewhere?

Thank you in advance..

no docs, just some official register names in the source (which isn't final as i'd hoped...)

THIS IS UTTERLY FANTASTIC.

I can't believe it has taken me three days to unearth this humble thread.

I know that IP ownership is a very real issue, but just reading the history of this project was fascinating (and heartbreaking).

I know better than to get my hopes up...but I really do hope for the best.

Thank you :)
