12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

:)

Are they essentially the same? Any refinements or improvements?

Other than a few extra components related to the power input of the Turbo Booster I think they are the same.

What is the power for? And these don't have memory save correct?

The power socket is to power the Turbo Grafx console. They are both just AV adapters, the Backup Booster and Turbo Booster Plus have memory.

Tennokoe2 also has memory but it does not offer AV output.

So many different variations.  I think the only variation that no one covered are CD system with no memory backup.  :D

How do you access the memory on a Booster-Plus?   I've got a Booster-plus, maybe if I get a chance this weekend I'll try to open it up and take photos.

For the turbo booster plus the memory only works with compatible games such as dragons curse.  It will ask you if you want to save or get a password

Yes, but if you power on console without a HuCARD  plugged in...press/hold SELECT?...you'll get the basic menu for managing game saves.

I used to have a TB+ years ago, but I am pretty sure it had same file management screen as the TG-CD (hold down SELECT on TG-CD startup screen).

Turbobooster Plus and other memory add on (those on rear ext port only) can be used with CD system card strictly for memory management.  Starting your TG-16 with Turbobooster Plus or CD system with no Hucard will only get you blank screen.  Duo are the only ones with built in CD system software that loads when the card slot is empty.

Yes, you need a System Card to see the TG-CD file manager (press SELECT on TG-CD startup screen).

But...I thought a file manager was built into TurboBooster+, too?

I guess I am mistaken...but I thought it was available.

Hmmmmm....

Don't remember getting anything when I still had my Turbobooster Plus powered on without any game.  Beside I doubt NEC would throw in a ROM chip for memory manager as that'd add a couple dollars per TB+ made

Theoretically it is possible to have a ROM running inside such expansion that runs when there's no card game but I think only the Super CD addon ever took advantage of this "feature", all CD^2 systems and both AV and/or memory backup never had any added ROM chip.
