12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Hell's yes!

Thank you kindly.

I will be back with my response after I make dinner for the kids. :)

UPDATE: Ha! I was confused at first. I finally figured out you were using bombs on the bosses. It seems some "rooms" are a lot tougher than others (like the graveyard...) where tons of different enemies are thrown at you at once.

I loved how big some of the "sprites" could get as they got closer (the eyeballs, for example!).

Does this mean that a crappy player, who can't quickly mow down enemy lines, would see the "mega-sized" sprites more frequently?

The skeleton+sword seems like a tough bastard—someone to avoid, if possible.

I don't know what to tell you about the giant dildo with villi that killed you...but it certainly seems like an appropriate opponent in a cave.

I know it might be tedious to play the game, but it seems like a decent variety of enemies and locals.

Having to find a key to unlock the boss seems like a good idea—but I was wondering if the lc action of key/boss varies from game to game? That would make replays more enjoyable, I think (force you to explore different areas of maze/map.

:)

Dungeon layout and enemy locations is randomly generated every time.  Even if you get Game Over and continue it will rerandomize the stage you are on.

Enemies in the "big rooms" (graveyard) are the only ones that will drop scrolls.  Pickup a scroll and the game will tell you which big room contains the key.  Once you have the key, if you picked up a 2nd scroll, the map will tell you where the boss room is.  You don't actually need any scrolls to finish the stage, but you have to kill everything in the key room to make the key appear, so it makes things a lot quicker.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense now. I was trying to figure out the motive/incentive to explore different areas when...there was nothing to be gained and the risk of dying.

When you played, did you try to actively avoid enemies (as indicated on map), or did you boldly go wherever you wanted.

It seems like it was a challenging game...but I have no way of gauging the actual difficulty level.

Depends on the stage.  The small monochrome enemies always go down in one hit.  So if you aren't spaming shots you can take them out at the same rate you bullets recharge.  But after stage 1 they move at you much faster. Making it a lot harder.  On Stage 1 big enemies take 2 shots, Stage 2, 3 shots, etc.  Stage 3 is damn hard, you really need to stock up on bombs and shields on the previous stages.

On Stage 3 dodging big enemies by the map is a must.

Thanks for sharing. That is a nice looking game.
