Has anyone here played that rare shmup? I bought a harder to find copy of the original print, not the Summer Carnival '93 version  last Friday. Can't wait to play it! Looks awesome based on that YT vid I seen.

Yeah, I have the regular and the special versions.  It's my favorite CD vert.  Great music and good, tough gameplay.

What is the difference between the original and the Summer Carnival '93 one?

RuninRuder

The original has cinemas.  Special has timed modes.

Great game.  Certainly one of the top-tier shooters on the PCE, which is saying quite a bit.

SuperDeadite

I've got both versions.  Great game and quite difficult.

Hard as hell, never got past the 2nd stage.  I love the soundtrack for the first 2 stages so far.

One my favs too but I didn't think it was that tough. The bosses in this game are quite easy & predictable.

The main problem I had with the game was the third level mini boss.  There is a nice youtube clip that shows how to beat it.

That's classic. When I first got the game I had the hardest fucking time beating that guy. I basically survived on pure luck alone, which meant I only beat him like 1/10 tries.

That was until I found out if you equip the proper weapon and go above him he's cake. It was only by accident I figured it out.

I haven't seen the YouTube clip, but I am guessing that's how they do it?

elnino

The third mini boss is like the toughest enemy throughout the whole game. I've never been able to beat him without this wide range weapon you get previously in the level. I usually don't go above him but stay at the very left just below the wall. He can't hit you there while your wide range shot beats the shit out of him. Obviously, this is only possible if you pick up the weapon first IMG

This mid-level boss is not that tough, is it?

yeah..that's a gap which certanly everyone stuck in once ore twice. really hard are the last two levels! they're made of pure hellness!

if you a great fan of the game, you really should get both version, since both of em offers nice individual things -> regular: one of the most touching intros ever created. summer carnival vers.: funny time score mode.

i still wonder, why they couldn't include the intro into the SC version as well?!

People wouldn't be forced to buy both version if the special one had the intro and the cut scenes as well. Cash rules everything around me IMG

Yeah he's tough. But you have to "beat" him in two "stages."

The first you do what el nino says. Then, while he's changing into another form, quickly zip above him from where you can dispatch him really, really easily.

All this is dependant on you picking up that proper weapon.
