My '08 Honda Civic EX had it's transmission made in Japan, engine made in the US and the entire thing assembled in Canada.

Quote from: ceti alpha on 02/08/2008, 07:30 PMIt's pretty much the same with Volkswagen. If you want a German built VW you have to buy a Passat, though I'm not sure aboot the new GTI.  :-k The new GTI is teh awesome.
Some, if not all, of the new Jetta's and Golf's are German made, but I'm sure they are making the change to an all Mexican set-up. It kind of sucks because VW hasn't been the same since they moved to most of the production to Mexico.

My GTI was actually built in Pennsylvania, but that was 22 years ago.

What's even crazier is the Accord V6 Hybrid which has an engine and trans built in Japan, and final assembly in Japan, but a body built in the US. So this means the body went to Japan and back. That's not the only incredibly stupid thing about that car.

This is a real joke here. As rotten as the bus service is, up until recently our 'subway' system consisted of a single diagonal line across the metro Vancouver area. A few years ago, 2 decades after the original line, they added another parallel lines that loops into the old one at either end.

Everyone who doesn't happen to live right next to that subway loop is screwed and at the mercy of the tiny bus service, driven by many awful union assholes through our terrible gridlocked streets. And those who can ride the subway have to put up with frequent delays and closures(among other things). Plus its $5 for an hour and a half.

It still sucks to drive anywhere during the day, but at least its possible to get somewhere beyond walking distance within an estimatable time frame(to like hold down a job or something).

I agree that you shouldn't rely on a car to get around if you don't have to and I would love to use transit again, but its just not reasonable in this area.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Vancouver is beautiful. :) I miss it out there, but I left there because I missed the east too much. lol  Now I might be going back to Ontario, but we'll see about that. Anyway, the public transit is terrible here in Halifax as well. The Halifax/Dartmouth ferries don't run late enough on the weekends and neither do the buses. So if you're on the Halifax side after 12:30am you have to take an expensive cab.  [-( Here in Halifax the problem with public transit is a population issue. Halifax isn't a terribly big city at 400,000 tops, but it has seen a lot of growth over the past years and is continuing to grow very quickly. A lot of people are moving in from rural Nova Scotia. The city is planning a train and a high speed ferry, which will be great, but until Halifax gets more people the transit system here is pretty crappy.

I drive everywhere now just because transit here is so dismal.  :|

But man, if the transit system here looked as modern as in 3X3 Eyes I'd be all over it. lol

That 3x3 Eyes intro made me nostalgic for Tokyo. Nothing easier than eying a rail map, buying a ticket, and going for a train ride. Between the trains and all the walking I lost some weight (and became anemic) over the course of 10 months in Japan. And now the good ole' USA has tossed be back into automobile mode, where it's just me in a car wasting gas to go places. I need a third eye so I can just make myself fly.
