The next installment of TG-16 Thunderdrome is here!

Today I am pitting the Turbo's mascot against himself to see what game is better.

We can all agree that these two Bonk games are awesome but which one is the BEST?

It's a tough decision for me but I have to go with Bonk's Adventure I just like it a smidge better than Revenge. No real reason why.

Let's get ready to crumble!!!!

I'm about the only one that'd pick it, but the correct answer is Bonk's Big Adventure!

But since that's not an option, I went with Bonk's Revenge.

Bonk was never exactly my favorite game, but Bonk's Revenge was certainly my favorite game in the series.

Sega does what Nintendon't, but only NEC does better than both together!^^

Yea, probably not the popular vote, but Bonk 3 was awesome and got the most play time due to being 2 player simultaneous....

I know many LOVE the faster spinning in Bonk 1 along with the first stage having some sort of 16-bit looking PARALLAX scrolling with the moon/planet in the background, but I personally prefer Bonk's Revenge.  I think the game has more variations in the levels and more gameplay elements that really make it stand out.  Bonk 3 took everything from Bonk's Revenge and stepped it up even more!
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

The core gameplay of controlling Bonk, as far as it overlaps versions, may be better in Bonk's Adventure, but Revenge has better overall balanced design. Adventure is all over the place and the good stuff is so good, but when you balance all the pros and cons of both and take the aesthetics into account, Revenge is a better overall game, but both are great and best of all, different.

I've got to go with the first one here.  The sequel may technically do everything better, but I've got far more nostalgia invested in the first one.  I played it to death bitd and still play it frequently.  I remember the first time I beat it, it took something like 3.5 hours (and that was probably after weeks/months of playing it).  Now I can crank through it in about an hour.

What initially turned me off of the sequel bitd was that they changed the spinning.  It took me almost 20 years to give Revenge a fair chance.  Now that I have, I thoroughly enjoy it, but it's got a long way to go before it can compete with the nostalgia factor of the original.

Oh shit...you're asking me to pick between my children. Bonk's Revenge was the better game, but Bonk's Adventure controlled so much better and was the one I fell in love with first.

Ugh...

Revenge.

Adventure looks better, plays better, and gets bonus points because it somehow was better BEFORE its sequel.

I put Bonk 3 in front of Revenge, the co-op mode makes it 2nd on my list.

CPTRAVE

I never had the chance to play Bonks 3, but between Bonk 1 and Bonk 2, I prefer Bonks Revenge. The bosses are cooler. :P.

turboswimbz

I perfer revenge all the way around.  I evwn like the controls and spin better. That being said i wonder how much has to do with 3 year old me sitting down to play his fist game, and playing revenge (yeah f off nintendo and mario, bonk and the tg16 were my first)
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)
BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere. You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

OldRover

I say Adventure due to somewhat better gameplay style, faster pace, higher challenge, and point-spamming. The ending was much better too, and the whole thing with the four boss characters was a really cool touch.
Turbo Badass Rank: Janne (6 of 12 clears)
Conquered so far: Sinistron, Violent Soldier, Tatsujin, Super Raiden, Shape Shifter, Rayxanber II

I do not know.

Back in the day, I wouldn't hesitate to tell you that Revenge was superior, despite its shortcomings.

However, when I go back to replay the games now, I find them both enjoyable in their own way.

Yeah, both games are pretty good, it's hard to decide... but I do think Adventure has the slight edge.

For me, Bonk's Adventure was my first Bonk game so it holds a special place. Revenge just added a little bit more, but nothing that put it on another level. Technically Revenge is better but I personally like Adventure more.

This is why I had to abstain. Casting a vote was akin to BACKSTABBING A BEST FRIEND.
