12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

With the blackout coming I figured I would post up some TV pics on our beloved handheld.

Nice idea, bust3dstr8, but does anybody make a portable ATSC tuner yet?  If so, the TurboVision won't die; it'll just get bulkier.  8)

P.S. - Make sure your Windex is ammonia free; plastics and ammonia don't play well together.

That's too bad the the TV tuner will be pretty much obsolete after Feb 2009.

The good news is, it's likely there will still be some NTSC signals (Analogue TV) broadcasted in your area, but these can be only "low powered stations." http://www.ntia.doc.gov/dtvcoupon/LPTVmap.html

Some may still be able to watch a few obscure public broadcast TV stations...

RIP TurboVision

guyjin

also, hams will still be able to transmit analog television, but you need a cable ready TV to pick it up.

VestCunt

Yeah, this is going to suck.  I've been using my TurboVision as an unpredictable noise-maker in live music performance and recording.

This is exactly why I finally bought one of these back when TZD had their half off sale last fall, I just had to try the Express out before analog TV was gone! I'm gonna miss the hell out of using it, simply because of the novelty :( . My brother saved up all summer for the Game Gear TV tunner as a kid and we thought that was so cool back then, but Turbo Vision is actually a much better design since it doesn't go into the cartridge slot and has a nicer tuner.

What is this "blackout" about? Are we going to have no choice but to get cable or satellite after 2/09? I smell a marketing ploy by cable/satellite companies to make more $$$$.

Do you live in a cave?  I can't turn on a television or open a newspaper without seeing an ad heralding the end of analog.  If you don't want to follow guyjin's link, here's a quick summation: broadcasters are switching from analog to digital, so NTSC tuners will be mostly useless.

I'd like to live in a cave and play video games all day!

Well excuse me! I don't watch the crap on TV these days nor read newspapers, unless I am looking for a new job.

Ditto.  I didn't hear about this until I read "ADHDTV" article in the Onion...of course, that was two years ago.
