12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

In French, or not in French. This is the question which....

Ok, so I got a bunch of TV Sports Crap Games to pretty much cannibalize for Turbo Chip/HuCard cases.  I noticed that some of the TV Sports Crap games have boxes that are in both English and au francias.  A few years back I picked up a sealed copy of Monstah Liar that was also bilingual.  Were the games with the bi boxes meant for distribution in North Mexico, I mean Canada?  Will one day these bi games be the "Stadium Events" of 2038?  I really don't care about the collectability of the games, I'm just weirdly curious about the bi-lingual games.  Wrong choice of words I think, but it looks like Canada takes it both ways when it comes to Turbo Chip literature.

nat

Yeah those are the Canadian editions and they are no less common than their US counterparts.

I believe the dual language box is less sought after and avoided. On a side note: I once bought a dual languaged box turbografx game from Europe. Do you think that it was imported from Canada or do you think that it was meant for European market? Perhaps Nec created this box for both Canadian and European markets. :-k

As nat states They were made for the Canadian market and it sayes on the box:

NEC Canada inc
6711  Mississagua Road
Mississagua (Ontario)
L5N 2W3

However the box is printed in the USA! and the games are still made in Japan!

I just checked one of my seald games in this case "Final Zone II" and most of the text is French but also some English and on the botton flap it says amongst other things just that "printed in USA" but on the back the address is to NEC in Canada.

Perhaps they thought it easier to send over games to Europe from Canada since they already had both languages on the boxes. Oh I do not know, just a thought!

jesus i laughed hard at that!!  hahahaha and even this canadian dumps those Frenchy manuals.

I have seen some good & bad bi-ling stuff in my days, from stuck on stickers to extra manuals to crowded artwork with both languages flowed in. Most of the time It looks like a last minute attempt just to get r done!!

See if CrackTiger has anything on this. A few years ago we were trying to document a bunch of stuff and, IIRC, he was helping out with the French versions.

Use the piss-poor search function on the forum to start!
