replacement ac adapter

I recently purchased a used TurboDuo off eBay, and although the seller claimed it was "complete," it did not include a Duo AV cable or AC adapter.  Instead, I got a TG-16 RF unit, and a TG-16 AC adapter.  Of course, neither of these things work with the Duo, so now I have a system that I can't use (kind of, more on that later).  So, I need to know what I can use for a replacement...

Here is what I have to use at the moment:

a Sega 32X MK 2103 adapter
-IN: 120V AC 60Hz 15w
-OUT: 10V DC .85A

a Sega CDX MK 4122 adapter
-IN: 120V AC 60Hz 23w
OUT: 9.5V DC 1.5A

a Super CD-ROM2 (Pad 125) adapter (Japanese)
-IN: 100V AC 60Hz 22VA
OUT: 12V DC 1000mA

It looks like the Sega adapters are close in spec to the Duo adapter, but the plugs aren't big enough.  Are there adapters available for this?  The Super CD adapter has the right plug size, but I'm worried the voltages (in and out) are a problem.  Anyone with the technical know-how have any recommendations?  Let me know if I'm not clear...

I hope you get a major portion of your payment refunded, because a loose incomplete console, especially one with a less common AC and AV cables doesn't demand a premium price.

Did they also send you a Turbo Pad?

Demand that the seller give you the proper cables or refund you. Claiming a system is 'complete' with the wrong cables is fraud.

that said, the AC adapter you want is like this:

the relevant parts are the output (10 volts, 1000 milliamps) and the polarity diagram "(+)--~)--(-)" , which means the tip is positive and the ring is negative. The input refers to the power coming from the socket; a European one might read "AC 250V 50Hz 16W".

The only one that's even remotely close is the 32X adapter, and without knowing the polarity, that might even be wrong.

Oh, I forgot to mention, each of the adapters I listed has the same polarity as the Duo adapter.

Radio Shack AC Adapter SKU # 273-1775 tip N works for the Turbo Duo TG-CD docking station.

There is an AV cord for one of the Sega Genesis models that is also compatible with the Turbo Duo.

Thanks for the tip about the Radio Shack adapter.  I read somewhere else that a tip Q also works, and that Radio Shack has a 10V adapter (the 273-1775 is 12V).  If, however, the 12V is OK to use with a Duo, then shouldn't my Super CD-ROM2 adapter work just fine?  I've hooked it up and gotten the Duo to work, but I've only left it on for like 5 minutes, because I wasn't sure if the 12V was too much...

Well, I finally ended up just buying a PowerLine 0900-77A 13mA Universal adapter, and a 'Q Tip' plug from amazon.com and radioshack.  I wasn't comfortable with using my Super CD-ROM2 adapter, and the Sega adapters don't fit the plug.  It's really surprising to me the number of people who don't get the right parts with their Duos, when purchased from eBay.

Now I'm looking for an official AV cable, since I'd like to have all my systems complete.  A long time ago I browsed the tzd.com site, but recent visits have left me a bit skepticle.  Has anyone used their site, and if so, is it reputable?

TZD used to be a legit business, but it's long gone. Don't deal with anyone claiming to be the "official" Turbo distributor.

For some reason I think I have a random Duo AV cable in the cabinet. I got when they were closing out,if I can find it you can have it for shipping price, its not like its doing me any good obviously......since Im not even sure I have it.

If the PCE is like the TurboGrafx, then the voltage is fed to a 7805 in the console which runs at 5.02v and powers the system; the 7805 can take 7v to (I think) 14v; so if you don't have a correct power supply, you can use a power supply and jack from something else (like a spare PSone screen supply at 7.4v, and power jack), connect the power jack in the console and use the alternative external power supply. If you use a power supply of 7-10v you should be fine, as this voltage is lower than the console normally uses so you won't harm your system (as long as you wire it correctly of course).

For example, my TurboGrafx is stated as needing 10.8v, yet I run it off a 7.4v Li-ion, or 6 x AA's or 6 x NiMH cells (7.2v) absolutely fine, as this is enough voltage to drive the 7805 regulator. I needed to do this anyway as the power supply came with a Euro plug not a UK one! According to my multimeter, the TurboGrafx seems to run on around 550mA or thereabouts. If you use a CD on the TG/PCE, that adds I think another 1.5 amps or so - one of the various reasons I am not using a CD in my mod and just using HUcards.
