12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Hey all,
Last night I suddenly realized that despite owning KC for 16 years, I had never once beaten it legitimately!

I enjoy the gameplay, and I have gone through the entire thing several times, but when it came to the final boss, I always abused that software glitch that makes him stand still and let you pummel him. I actually discovered it on my own the first time I ever got to him...I just happened to jump in at an angle.

The few times I tried to beat him fairly, the fight never lasted very long. I will say that he is disproportionately hard when compared with the first six bosses. Yes, the difficulty should increase as you get further in the game, but within reason.

Anyway, last night, using the debug code to save time, I went through stage 7B over and over again until I beat him au naturale. And I just did, like 8 minutes ago!

Totally satisfied.

Anyone else have a tough time with him?

Like you, the VERY FIRST time I ever encountered him I accidentally triggered & discovered that bug. For a long time I thought that's just how he was-- a joke boss in the vein of Gradius or something like that.

The final boss is nothing more than the fourth boss with an extra attacker...though the run/jump/hit/crouch strategy won't work too hot here. You have to use excellent timing and get sort of lucky to pull it off. I think that's why they added the "cheap" method...they knew that this boss was hard as hell so they made an easier way to do it. In order to win this battle, what I do is bring a full stock of bolt bombs set at type 4 (NOT type 5) and just belt the thing as much as possible with sword and bombs, while jumping over his little robo-dog thing. As long as you don't get hit by his stupid invincible dog friend, you can take a few hits from the BS fireballs and still get in enough slashes and bomb attacks to win. However, if you time it right, you can force his pet off-screen, and avoid the fireballs altogether and get in a hit or two. This takes awhile and requires an incredible sense of timing but it can be done.

Windancer, RoyVegas, and I played through Keith Courage one night, and the glitch happened to us as well.  What actually triggers that?  We smoked him.

When you reach the cliff that drops into his lair, jump over the hole and onto the left platform, then fall in to the right. You'll land right in front of him and he'll be frozen and unable to attack.

He is one tough bastard indeed! I agree with old rover about the #4 bombs, very key to winning the battle.

All this talk of KC is making me hungry for another go at It. It would only be like, the 4 millionth time!
Nothin beats the real thing.
