Totally Turbo!  For the life of me I could not remember the name of that company!  Didn't they become TZD eventually?  Anyway, I remember that order form because I used it to order Ys I II, Fighting Street, and Valis II!!  

I'm sure everybody remembers the first time they sat down and played Ys I II.  No words can describe one of the best (if not *the* best) video game experiences in gaming history.

Can't wait to check out the other issues.  Thanks for sharing gyoshi!

I remember that exact issue.  Damn, I sure miss the old "mom n' pop" feel of the Turbo.  Those were damn good times.

Did anybody even own a turbo cd back then?  When I was a kid that was like a holy grail right along with the neo geo.  I knew a bunch of people with TG16's and Genesis's but no one had the cd attachments.  It would be interesting to see how much better/worse the cd attachment sold vs. the duo.  Obviously the duo was much cheaper and included an actual system but it came out right around the time the snes did.  Has TTI ever released any kind of sales number?  Would TZD have anything like that?

But then when it breaks down the awards, one of them is "Turbografx game of the year".

I had one back then. I saved up for weeks and then got ripped by a store advertising in EGM for $450. I now want to get some old issues(my Dad threw out all my old game mags and Turbo/PCE packages after I moved to the big city) from back then to track down the ad.

Soon afterwards, I saved up again and finally got one through Radio Shack. And yes, all my Genesis-loving console-wars-era friends were impressed and jealous.

Hey, I had the CD player back then too! I saved up and finally got it sometime in 1992 or so. Still have it, even kept that huuuuuge box. Ys I & II is still one of my favorite games. Unfortunately my CD player has trouble when it gets towards the end of a disc; not sure why.

Sherlock Holmes CD was also a favorite, since it was my first FMV game. In this issue of TurboEdge it says it was $61.99?! I don't remember paying that much, but maybe I did.

I didn't have a Turbo CD back then but rather the PCE CD + IFU "briefcase".    My friend got the Turbo CD for Christmas in '90 I think.  However, we played the first TG CD games on my system.  That probably convinced him to ask for the TG CD that year.

After we found out that the CD games worked on both systems, we knew we were set.  We lived in Japan at the time and had access to all the PCE games.

I got the Turbo CD player at the end of summer 1990. I was 15 years old and thus too young to have a "real" job. However, my next door neighbor had a part-time business treating wood fences with some kind of preservative, and he hired me for a couple weeks. It was a disgusting job because by the end of the day I was always covered with whatever the heck it was we were spraying on those fences. Hope that stuff doesn't cause cancer later. Also, my neighbor usually foisted most of the work on me while he went back to the truck for a nap. This was during July in Texas, so it was hot as hell. Anyway, by August I had enough for the Turbo CD so I bid adieu to my neighbor (actually I wanted to give him a swift kick in the ass) and it was off Babbages to finally realize my dream of playing Ys Book I & II. NEC had just dropped the price of the CD player by $50 via a mail-in rebate, so I was able to buy it for the bargain price of...$350 plus tax. Yes, all you kiddies griping about paying four big ones for an Xbox 360 just need to shut up now. My TG-16/CD combo cost me $550 after rebate. That's inching towards Neo Geo territory. Anyway, long story short, the store didn't have Ys so I had to make do with Last Alert. Sheesh, not an impressive beginning I tell you. "Guy Kazama, say hello to my girl Betty!" "You're some weirdo, naming your helicopter!" Ugh...

That Q&A section was hilarious.  The answers went totally overboard IMO.  Just oozing with propaganda. hehe.  I love TG/PCE like everyone else here, but those answers just had me laughing the whole time.

I had one back then if i remember right i sold all my nes+games then i bought the, TG16.

As for the, TurboCD i had a.... part time summer job back then i pretty much used the money to buy one

Heck none of my personal friends had one i was the only one to own the complete setup.

Still to this day i do feel stupid for selling it. Only to start over again with a, Duo-R and a, CoreGrafx+SCDR2 to play those games again
