i want to clean my yellow cd rom player, i remove all the screws, but then when i want to remove the inferior cover , it seems attached to something so it just open a little, i have the fear of broke something inside, like, a soldered cable for instance.

or is it just glue that prevents to open it?

please help!

Keranu

If I were you, I wouldn't mess with it! The CDROM2 systems are VERY compact inside and stuff is gutted everywhere and shouldn't really be messed with. I recommend only taking of the CD lid part and washing it like I did (just don't get vinegar and salt close to it, heh). It's too risky taking the little guy apart and trying to put him back together. I wish there was an easier way, like a rub that would instantly clean it.

I will contest to this,as Keranu as learned the hard way,and had to get a cd drive replacment shell from me.DO NOT USE FINGER NAIL POLISH REMOVER!
Also, unless your really good at taking apart compact electronics, and getting it all to fit back in,then dont take it apart.Use a air can for dust. The deck has tiny ribbon cables, and they tear easy.

The shell Michael sent me also included an extra ribbon cable inside and I can verify that they are very fragile! Maybe if D-Lite has enough expertise on PCE CDROM2 systems, you could pay him to clean it up for you and put it back together, that is if he is up to it.

You're talking the CD unit itself, not the IFU-30 "holder", yes?

Never took one apart, but after working on CDX systems, it must be easier than those :x
