10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Hi, guys. This is marktheshark here. I've registered here a long while ago, but I've completely forgotten about this place until now.

Anyways, I first heard about the TG-16/PC Engine back in 2006 when Hudson announced plans to bring over the TG-16 games to the Wii Virtual Console. At the time, I had no idea that the system existed before then. A few years later, I got a few PC Engine games from the VC including Star Parodier, Y's Book I & II, & Bomberman '94. After seeing the library of games, I can say that the PC Engine is my favorite 16-bit console second only to the Super NES.I'm planning on getting either a TG-16, PC-Engine or a Turbo-Duo later on. I have a few questions however.

1. How do you get past the region lock in a Turbografx-16?

2. Is the Turbo-Duo region locked as well as the TG-16 CD unit?

3. What are some cheap, but good games for both the TG-16 & the CD unit?

the region lock is only for the card (cartridge) slot, and applies to all versions.

on the us units the region lock can be defeated with an adapter, or mod.
the jap units require an internal mod to use the adapter.

the region lock requires 8 pins reversed in the slot to switch region (we have a very nice board built to handle that)

as to games most can be had cheap, or cost a fortune so look around.
