12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

I am thinking about letting one of my Duo systems go.  I have a few of em, and could use the funds for more Obey!  So...  what I am thinking about selling is a Duo R that I bought from doujindance on eBay.  He has refurbished this unit, added a new lens, region modded it, RGB modded it, and replaced the red LED with a blue one.  This system works perfectly, and I actually have it hooked up at this time.  I would like to get $250.00 shipped anywhere USA for it.  The system would come with a 3rd party power supply and AV cables.  I no longer have the SCART cable that is used for the RGB hookup.  Also note, I won't be including a controller with this.  This isn't something I have to sell, but will let it go if someone wants it for that price.  Fellow forum member roflmao played this system with me a couple weeks ago while he was visiting here in VA, so maybe he will chime in here on it's condition.  :)  Anyway, PM me if interested.

If you'd had this up a month ago, I'd have bought it. :D

I know very little about the Duo R, other than the fact that I know that I need to get one eventually.
I currently only have a 'normal' U.S.-released TurboGrafx-16 which can only play U.S.-released HuCards.  I don't even have a Turbo Booster or Turbo Booster Plus, so I can currently only play my system on a TV which accepts coaxial input.

A couple of questions,

1.  You mentioned that this system comes with no SCART cable. Is this something that I would need to get before I could use this system?

2.  You mentioned that you're not including any controllers with this.  Can I use my U.S.-released controllers which work on my normal U.S.-version TurboGrafx game system?

3.  Basically, my main question is this.  I want to be able to play both U.S. & Japanese-released Turbo CD games, and I also want to be able to play Japanese-released HuCard games, and ultimately, I want to be able to play ALL Turbo games (arcade games, and whatever).  With my already having a normal U.S.-released TurboGrafx-16, what other equipment (system, cords, adapters, controllers, system cards, etc...) do I need to be able to play EVERYTHING?

Thank you for your help.

Bernie, I'd be interested.

1.  You can use the included A/V cables I send with this.  If you wanted to take advantage of the RGB mod, you would have to get another connection.  This one happened to come with a SCART cable, that I just didnt use so I let it go to someone here.  But the AV cables provide the stock composite signal for the system.  :)

2.  You can, with an adapter like I use.  Best bet is to get a cheap pc engine controller from someone here or on eBay.  All I have are TG-16 controllers too, I have let all my pcengine ones go.

3.  With this set-up, you will be able to play ALL HuCARD games and ALL CD/SuperCD games.  There are a couple Super CD games that require the 1.0 card, such as Altered Beast CD, but they are just a few.  So, all you need to play EVERYTHING is just a pcengine controller.  If you do want to play Arcade CD games, you will need the Arcade Card Duo or Pro.   :)

I think that covers everything.  :P

Thank you for the comprehensive response.
Now, if Deletion hasn't already jumped on this, I've got to look at by wallet and see if I can scrape $250 together...

One more question about PCE controllers vs TG-16 controllers.
Is there a simple extension cord adapter which could be run from a PCE to a U.S.-version Turbo Tap which in turn would allow regular U.S. TG-16 controllers to be used to play the PCE games?  Or, if I want to play multi-player PCE games, must I get a PCE Turbo Tap and 5 PCE controllers?

Thanks.

thesteve

yes you can use an adaptor for the tap, just needs to be a short cord

does this come with the S video cable that doujindance  usually includes? Also does this come with the box

Bernie

This one is not S vid modded.  It was rgb modded and came with a scart cable that I gave to someone here on the forums.  I just use the composite cables.  It also does not have the box.

So, where's the best place to get said adapter?

I got to spend a fair amount of time playing some of the rarer turbobs on this exact console a couple of weeks ago at Bernie's house and whoever it goes to will be very happy indeed.

Good deal on the sale.  Now I just need to keep scraping up nickels and hopefully another one comes up for sale sometime.

Going to the professor.  :)  I am sure he will like it.  Very nice machine.  I hooked up a Turbo Duo that I had modded by BlueBMW in it's place, along with the wireless controllers I got from Black Tiger.  Very nice indeed!!

Yeah actually I want to buy games, but seems no one around here has any for sale. Everyone's just given it all away :P
