12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Not really, but I wonder if it would be a hit? TTi has certainly slowed down in their releases. No presence at E3, and it seems like it's been years since the last release. You've gotta figure if they are being so quiet, they must be planning something big.

Maybe a console redesign to compete with Nintendo and Sony? Some new games from Konami, Capcom, and UbiSoft? Rabbids would work pretty well on the Duo. With the Turbo Tap, that's 5 player simultaneous play, massively multiplayer action.

Maybe some translations? Reprints for everything on Ebay, that are nearly indistinguishable from the original run?

The Game Gear reappeared in Toys R Us and other retail chains for a while when Majesco rereleased it, years after its prime. Clearly the precedent is there.

It does make me wonder though, if you acquired the rights/holding of TTi could you legally and legitimately press new runs of games?  The market would probably asplode, and variant hunters would come out of the woodwork looking for new stuff to rape.

Are you kidding a redesign?  Have you seen the PS3 and XBOX 360?

If a system was actually released today that looked as sleek and slim as the Duo it would be awesome.   The new PS3 is better, but it's still just.. BLAH.  And the 360 is a brick looking thing.

So release the Duo in it's original form... oh crap I'm replying to crazed drunken post again aren't I?

For the redesign,  you would need a pack-in that showed off the capabilities of the unique controller, the graphics, and the system.

I'm thinking Gate of Thunder 3 in 1 is still a good choice. The first run of the Turbo Duo wasn't that large, so this will still be fresh to most people. It rivals Wii Sports as a pack in, since instead of just mini games to showcase the systems capabilities, you have full experiences. It showcases all the key areas:

For the controller, you've got the D-pad controlling the main action, which allows you to move in 8 directions. This is showcased nicely in Gate of Thunder, and the graphics are pretty boss as well.

The I and II buttons and the Turbo Switches are well showcased in Bonk's Adventure, and to a lesser extent Bonk's Revenge. The Turbo switches are a novel, experimental feature that other systems have only included with peripheral devices, thus limiting their exposure. But here every Turbo owner has them, so developers can feel free to design games around them.

For Gate of Thunder, you've also got the CD music, which is like an official soundtrack CD on the very same disc as the game, a feature that the new audience should be aware of, since they can expect it with nearly every CD game on the market. You've also got a leaderboard in Gate of Thunder, and when used in conjunction with your phone's camera, the leaderboard can go online for sharing with your friends via social media.

And there's nothing like Bomberman for multiplayer. It's not online, but if you enter a room and find as many as four other people playing Bomberman, you can jump in and join them, no split screen or extra copies of the game required. If the room is full, you can always start your own room and invite others. Voice chat is always available, using your own vocal chords and ears, with no costly accessories required.
