2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I saw this linked in a neogeo thread. Awesome video about how to get the image just right on your monitor! I've adjusted the screen size and geometry on mine but haven't touched the color because I didn't know what to do but looks like it's not too hard!

Pretty neat vid, although only applicable to old, 80's PVMs.  Newer 90's and 00's models have all of that stuff in service menus, so that there is no need to open the monitor.  I'd love to have one of those little deals that generates color bars, cross-hatch patterns, etc.  White balance looks like kind of a pain, though.

Between the THX calibration toolset on T2 dvd, and the Avia dvd, you can get some pretty good calibration results on crts.

Nice
I guess im a new addition to the PVM club myself, having recently purchased a PVM 2030.
I have not started using it yet, I plan to use it for testing stuff and also maybe connecting some retro home computers on it.
The image looks pretty good but it has some severe geometry issues. Ill take a look at this guide.

Many arcade boards output test patterns, so that will have you set via the RGB. To calibrate composite and Y/C inputs you'll want a DVD or something.

For the most accurate job of course you'd want a way to generate patterns for every device you are calibrating. If you have a flash cart there are actually test ROMs out there.

I have a late 90's crt tv that has convergence issues, but I imagine that I would electrocute myself if I tried to fix it. Nothing in the menu it =(

I picked up this RGB cable for my PVM2030 and it's worked great so far

My speaker output sucks though from mine, I'm having to run audio to a a ipod player with line in for now. I was hoping to use the internal amp and speaker jacks from the back but it's not working. I think I'll go to town with contact cleaner and I hope that fixes things.

I'd buy one of those if it just went to four BNC connectors (what my JVC monitor takes). It wouldn't be hard to make one at all except female SCART sockets of any kind of quality aren't easy to find.

Take a look turough all the cables they make, i know they make a scart to bnc cable. Everything I've bought from them has been great quality.
