So upset right now. My region/Rob modded Duo Rx stopped powering on today. I've tested the AC adapter and the fuse with a multi meter. Both are working at 7.5 DC (using playstation 1 adapter I think. It has always worked) . No caps leaking. No apparent damage. I have no idea what to do next.  Help.

It was a Doujindance one I believe. I have had it for about 8 or 9 months. Always worked fine...no issues. When I first got it, I could not get the region switch to work, but 2 days later it just started working, so I figured it was just me.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe it is the power switch that is the issue. I just need to look at the bottom of the board now, since I have only looked on top and the voltage meter checks out past the fuse. No LED when it is turned on which mean no power to it.

Any tips would be appreciated. I really don't want to have to buy another one.

I bet one of the internal 7805 voltage regulators went out. I'm not sure why but I've seen this happen much more on DUO-R systems than regular DUOs. Check and see if you get 5V out of each one.

Thanks for the reply. Are these the 7805A pieces attached to the heat sinks? There is also another piece an inch to the right of the sinks that has 5.5 473 printed on it. Maybe this is for the CD drive?

Also, I took a look at the bottom of the board and every cap front and back. The caps all have the wire legs on them and I could see no issues with any of them. No discoloration or white crud. No bloating of any cap and no leakage.

However, (see pic) the under side of the power connector has some discoloration. Since I am still getting the correct voltage to the fuse when plugged in, could this discoloration even be the problem?

So, here's the deal. I'm an idiot. I've worked in tech long enough to know better, but here is what happened.

This all started when I plugged my Duo-RX into a different TV yesterday (S-Video). No picture came up and there was no light on the system. At this point my brain just assumed that the LED on the board would be on once power was going to it (I guess I never noticed), so then I began frantically going from power outlet to power outlet turning the system on with no video cable plugged in looking for the light. No light! Oh NO!

So at about 1AM last night I read something in a forum stating that the LED only comes on when you access the CD drive by pressing Run. So I tried that last night, and again nothing happened. When I woke up this morning I realized that I had forgot to plug the CD door detector connector back into the system board.

So I did that, loaded a CD in, turned on the system, and pressed run. LET THERE BE LIGHT! So, now that I feel like a moron, I plug it back into the original TV....works fine. Played Gomola Speed for a bit.

All this time it was just a video issue on my other TV...which may have not even been an issue. Maybe I just selected the wrong source or didn't plug the cable in right.

Thanks for everyone's help. I guess the bonus is that I learned a lot about the system board over the last 15 hours.

Sigh...
