2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I know there were sequels to Devi's C on both the Genesis and SFC/SNS, haven't tried them. I recently heard about Battle Pinball on the SFC and I recall hearing good things about the Metroid Pinball.

I've tried several boards on Zen Pinball for the PS3, some are quite fun to play.

Recommendations?

Sonic Spinball (genny)
Kirby's Pinball (game boy)

Pinball of the Dead on the GBA is pretty fun, though it's no Devil's Crush.  I've also had some fun playing Flipnic for the PS2.  Both should be cheap to find.

majors

Necronomicon (<-love that one!) and Last Gladiators on Saturn.

2nd vote for Fantastic Pinball for SS (and PS1). I had a lot of fun with Flipnic, it has a relaxing vibe through the whole game...and odd verbiage.

Pokemon Pinball was quite fun, but Sonic Pinball Party (GBA) was even better.

I've been having ridiculous fun with Galactic Pinball on Virtual Boy. I just got the system, and I picked up this game on a whim because of how cheap it was. A couple weeks later, it's now far and away the game I've played most on it.

FWIW, I think it's one of the very last games produced by Gunpei Yokoi before he left Nintendo (and sadly passed away).

Kirby's pinball, as already mentioned, is a great game. Surprisingly hard to.

Some old thoughts on Crüe Ball vs. Devil's Crush. I still stand by that assessment.
Interesting,  I'm curious now.

I love digital pinball games to the point that my opinion isn't valid because I think they are ALL good.

I suggest just experimenting with as many as you can find, because the majority of the games in the genre  tend to be $5 or so.

There's Pin*Bot and High Speed on the NES, both remakes of the Williams tables of the same names, with a lot of extra things (espeically in High Speed) that just aren't possible on their real-world counterparts. Highly recommended, if nothing else for the abundant amount of voice clips.

Awesome recommendation all. Thanks!

I've quite enjoyed Crue Ball and Sonic on the GBA so far. Didn't quite get into the house of the undead one but it did have some cool elements. More to try!

I'm hooked on Battle Pinball so far though, minus the water stage. Just don't care for it.

Don't sleep on Pinball Dreams for the OG Gameboy either. I liked that one.

Revenge of the Gator on GB was a lot of fun. Pinball Quest for the NES is another one-  pretty bad, but novel.

Pinball Quest intrigues me. I must learn more.

UPDATE: OMG! I remember seeing this game all the time (awesome cover art). It must have never sold. Anyway, I don't think I was ever tempted to actually try this game BITD, but now it has piqued my curiosity.

One of the best 2D pinball tables with one of the best MOD BGMs can be found on the Amiga called Pinball Dreams:

like the Nightmare table the most (from 1:15:52 on)
(damn that muzik :pcgs:)

Also has very great physiks.

It also brought two great successors along, Pinball fantasies and Pinball Illusions. Still like Dreams the best :)

Btw. there is also a lil' downgraded version of Pinball Dreams on the GBA (euro release only I guess).
maybe there are even diverse DL versions available for modern consoles as well :)

If you don't mind messing with DOSBox (or have a DOS PC), Epic Pinball is awesome.  I also like Sonic Spinball on the Genesis even though it was largely panned by critics.

Last Gladiators Digital Pinball for the Saturn is one of the greatest pinball games I've ever played. Get it. It's cheap, too.

This thread made me pick up pinball quest at my local game shop. Will keep you posted.

Can't believe I forgot this one, but "Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection" is an excellent compilation. I also happen to have a new, shrink wrapped copy for sale right now... (PM if interested)

There's Pinbot for NES, also.

It was pretty solid, for an NES game.

That's not pinball! That's a Pachinko simulator. The Sinclair didn't even have a TILT button on the keyboard.
